Chapter 560
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 560:
Never?
Sheâd once believed that wholeheartedly. Now, she wasnât so certain.
âLetâs just drop it,â Linda murmured, regaining her composure. She went back to preparing breakfast, flashing a faint smile. âItâs been a while since you had my cooking. Make sure you eat plenty later.â
âThank you, but this was too much trouble,â Eric said. âThe housekeeper will be here soonâ¦â
âHey, Eric.â Linda suddenly looked up and interrupted him. âI couldnât find any ketchup earlier. Did you run out?â
âReally?â Eric stood immediately, concern creasing his forehead. âI can go out and buy some!â
âNo, thereâs no need!â Linda tried to stop him with a small laugh. âI only mentioned it in passing. If we have it, greatâif not, itâs fine. You know Iâve never really been a big fan of ketchup.â
âThat wonât work. Hadley needs itâshe wonât eat without ketchup. The store nearby should have some.â
âHey, Ericâ¦â Linda began, but he was already on his way out. She watched him go, her eyes darkening slightly.
Heâd been so thoughtful toward Hadley these days.
Eric came back later than expected, a bottle of ketchup in hand, which he placed on the table.
âThat took a while,â Linda commented.
He explained, âThe store downstairs didnât have the brand Hadley likes, so I had to look elsewhere.â

As he spoke, footsteps sounded from the staircaseâHadley was coming down.
âHadley!â
Eric stood immediately, his gaze locked on her, reading every shift in her expression.
âYouâre up already? This early?â
âYeah, but I see you and Linda beat me to it,â she replied with a slight smile.
Her choice of âand Lindaââneatly lumped them together. Eric pushed aside the faint discomfort in his chest and took Hadleyâs wrist. âCome have breakfast. Linda made something nice for us.â
Hadley let him lead her into the dining room.
Linda was busy cooking but turned when she heard them enter.
âHadley, good morning,â she said.
Only Hadley noticed the unmistakable contempt in Lindaâs eyes.
âGo ahead and sit,â Eric said, letting go of Hadleyâs hand. âIâll help Linda.â
He moved to Lindaâs side, gently guiding her away from the stovetop. âIâve got this. You go sit. Youâve already done so much.â
Since Linda had already put in the effort, he felt it would be rude for him and Hadley to merely wait idly for their meal.
Linda offered him a tight smile and stepped back. âAlright. Baconâs done. You can fry some eggs with the greaseâtheyâll be great.â
That left her and Hadley alone at the table, facing each other.
âWow!â Hadley inhaled deeply. âSmells amazing. Iâll bet it tastes just as good.â
Lindaâs face chilled. âI didnât make them for you.â
