Chapter 564
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 564:
As she reached the end of the staff corridor, her gaze fell upon Elissa. She wasnât alone. Standing beside her was that man from before⦠Robin, if memory served.
âSpeak your piece and be quick about it,â Elissa said icily, tilting her head with an air of impatience. âIâve got work to do. Letâs not dawdle.â
âWhatâs with that tone of yours?â Robin snapped, his patience clearly wearing thin as a scowl creased his brow. âIf you hadnât blocked my number, do you think I would have bothered coming here?â
âHumph,â Elissa scoffed, her lips curling into a sneer. âYou know, no oneâs forcing you to show up!â
âYouâ¦â
Robin faltered, pointing at Elissa, momentarily at a loss for words. âIâm not here to bicker! I came to tell you to come home for dinner this weekend.â
The Torres family held a monthly gathering, a tradition no one dared skip.
Elissa smirked. So he still cared about keeping up appearances, did he?
âDid you hear me?â Robin barked, clearly done with the conversation. âAnd take me off your blacklist while youâre at it!â
With that, he spun on his heel and stormed off.
Hadley, observing from a distance, couldnât catch the details of their exchange and instead made her way to the locker room.
Shortly after, Elissa returned, clutching her stomach and looking as pale as a ghost, visibly unwell.
âElissa, whatâs the matter?â Hadley hurried over, guiding her to a seat as she noticed her friend gripping her midsection.

âIs it that time of the month again?â Hadley asked quietly.
âYes.â Elissa nodded weakly.
âHold on a moment,â Hadley said with haste. âIâll fetch you a glass of water.â
âThank you,â Elissa murmured.
âNo need to thank me,â Hadley replied with a reassuring smile.
Moments later, Hadley returned with a cup in hand and passed it to Elissa. âItâs warmâit should help soothe you. Iâve also got some painkillers if the discomfort gets worse.â
âNot just yet,â Elissa said with a faint smile, shaking her head. âItâs not quite that unbearable.â
Primarily, Elissaâs mood remained shadowed by her earlier clash with Robin, the sting of their exchange still lingering like a stubborn fog.
âAlright, if the pain sharpens, just give me a shout,â Hadley offered gently.
âWill do.â Elissa managed a small smile, nodding in appreciation.
âYouâre always ready for anything, arenât you?â
âNaturally.â Hadley chuckled softly. âEvery time that monthly visitor arrives, itâs like a tempest sweeping through⦠wait!â
Hadleyâs thoughts screeched to a halt, her breath catching in her throat.
Why hadnât her own cycle made its appearance this month? With a flicker of urgency, she reached for her phone and pulled up her calendar. Her eyes scanned the datesâno mistake about it⦠she was already a week overdue!
Could it be?
Her pulse quickened, a wild hope fluttering in her chest. Could it possibly be the answer to her quiet dreams?
