Chapter 566
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 566:
On the line was Eric, just as she expected.
Hadleyâs lips curled into a soft smile as she answered the call. âHello.â
âHadley?â
On the line, Ericâs voice carried a hint of tension.
Memories of their morning dispute played in his mind, causing his throat to tighten uncomfortably.
âAre you done? Iâm outside waiting,â he said, his voice filled with anticipation.
Hadley paused deliberately, letting the silence linger for a couple of seconds before responding, âYes, Iâm finished. Just give me a moment.â
âOkay. Take as long as you need,â Eric responded, his tone bright with relief and devoid of any impatience.
He had been worried that Hadley might still be upset and possibly refuse to meet him.
Determined to make amends, he prepared himself mentally to apologize sincerely and accept whatever response she might have.
After ending the call, Hadleyâs eyes sparkled with a trace of excitement.
She turned to Elissa, who was nearby, and simply said, âElissa.â
âNeed something?â Elissa asked while organizing costumes.
âActually, yes,â Hadley responded with a smile, a plan forming in her mind. âI need a favor.â
âTell me what you need,â Elissa said, setting aside her work.
âWell, hereâs the thingâ¦â
After getting ready, Hadley stepped outside.

âHello, Hadley.â
Eric greeted her with his usual considerate demeanor, assisting her into the car.
Before he could start the engine, Hadley suggested, âHow about we stop at a café for a bit?â
âSure thing.â Eric agreed readily.
At this moment, Eric was prepared to accommodate any of Hadleyâs requests.
He drove them to a nearby café.
Once they were settled, he inquired, âHungry? Maybe a brownie? And what would you like to drink? A cappuccino, perhaps?â
âJust a hot milk for me, thanks,â Hadley responded with a gentle smile, settling into her new commitment to self-care during her pregnancyâno caffeine, no alcohol.
âGot it.â
Eric ordered a hot milk for her and lime water for himself.
Once the beverages were served, Hadley took a slow sip of her milk before dropping a bombshell. âWe should break up.â
Eric looked up sharply, his expression one of disbelief. âCome again?â
âWas I not clear?â Though she saw his stunned look, Hadley repeated firmly, âLetâs break up.â
Silence hung heavy for a moment.
Trying to mask his distress with a strained smile, Eric asked, âWhy? Havenât I been good to you?â
âYou have.â Hadley acknowledged, her tone neutral. âAside from how you handled things with Linda, youâve treated me really well.â
