Chapter 567
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 567:
This brought a more serious look to her face as she straightened up, ready to explain further.
âTruly, thank you for everything youâve done.â
Hadley acknowledged the significant role Eric had played in Joyâs chance for a better life. Her gratitude was genuine.
Eric couldnât believe his ears. He believed it all spiraled out of this morningâs unfortunate events.
Eric managed a laugh, but it was laced with sarcasm. âYou want to end things over a single disagreement? What relationship doesnât have its ups and downs? Hadley, this is childish. Youâre acting so impulsively.â
âItâs irrelevant.â Hadley was dismissive, unwavering in her decision. âYou may see me as impetuous and immature, but Iâve made my decision. Weâre breaking up.â
âCome on, Hadley.â Ericâs frustration was evident; his eyes darkened with desperation. âBe rational. Werenât you also at fault this morning?â
âI acknowledge that.â Hadley conceded without hesitation. âI shouldnât have caused a scene with Lindaâs dishes. That oneâs on me.â
Eric sensed her lack of sincerity. âYou admit your mistakes readily, but do you genuinely believe you were at fault? Empty apologies arenât necessary.â
Hadley let out a soft laugh. âI do acknowledge my error, truly.â
âThen if thatâs trueâ¦â
Interrupting him, Hadleyâs smile was cold. âHowever, acknowledging my mistake doesnât change that youâve upset me. I no longer wish to continue this relationship. Itâs over.â
Finishing her milk, she set down the cup neatly. No sense in leaving anything behind. She then stood up.

âStay seated!â
Ericâs hand shot out, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back down. âReally?â
Surprised and irritated, Hadley stared back at him sharply. âMr. Flynn, this is unnecessary. We agreed that we could end things if it stopped.â
âWorking for either of us. That was your promise.â
She arched an eyebrow. âArenât you a man of your word? Not keeping your promise now?â
At a loss for words, Eric opened his mouth but remained silent.
âHadley!â Elissa entered the café at that moment, pushing the door wide open and signaling to Hadley. âAll set? Iâve come to pick you up.â
âSure, just a second.â
Hadley shot Eric a look as she stood up, freeing herself from his grip. âMr. Flynn, Iâm deeply disappointed. You chose to protect another woman rather than support me, your own girlfriend. Remember how you once described me? âArrogant, overbearing, and willful.â Well, I canât tolerate being second to anyone, and frankly, youâve become a nuisance. Goodbye!â
She made her way over to Elissa. âDid I keep you waiting?â
âJust got here,â Elissa responded, looping her arm through Hadleyâs. âItâs freezing outside. Letâs get moving.â
âAbsolutely.â
Back at the table, Eric sat frozen, watching Hadley leave.
What a miscalculation on his part!
He had thought they could smooth things over.
Instead, Hadley dropped a bombshell, decisively cutting him off. This was his first real attempt at romance, and it had ended in a public rejectionâunexpected and abrupt.
