Chapter 574
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 574:
Elissa steadied herself and flashed a grin. âIâm alright!â
But just as she spoke, a loud crash echoed, followed by a scream of agony from Linda.
Hadley and Elissa glanced toward the soundâLinda was sprawled on the ground, a heavy metal ladder trapping her leg beneath it. Cold sweat broke out on their foreheads as they exchanged a look of alarm.
What should they do?
Lindaâs injuries appeared severe.
âHadleyâ¦â Elissaâs voice shook. She had pushed Lindaâmaybe not intentionally, but it still happened. âWe need to lift this ladder off her, now!â
âRight!â
Rushing to Lindaâs side, Hadley and Elissa worked together to remove the ladder. Despite her animosity toward Linda, Hadley knew they couldnât just leave her in pain.
The ladder was heavy and unwieldy, challenging their strength. As they struggled, Lindaâs cries grew louder. Her leg was severely injured, bloodied, and she seemed to be on the verge of losing consciousness from the intensity of the pain.
âItâs not movingâ¦â Sweat poured down Hadleyâs forehead as she called out desperately, âWe need more hands here!â
At her shout, several people hurried over to assist. With their combined effort, they finally managed to free Linda from under the ladder.
In that moment, Hadley turned to Elissa. âRun, now!â
Elissa, confused and hesitant, paused before realizing what Hadley meant.
She shook her head vigorously. âI canât leave⦠It was my push.â

âGo!â Hadley insisted, her expression tense. âIâll take care of this.â
Hadley knew that if it werenât for her, Elissa wouldnât be caught in this mess. She couldnât stand by and let her friend take the fallâthis wasnât who she was.
âNo, Iâm staying!â Elissa stood her ground, adamant. She couldnât abandon Hadley, especially with Linda severely hurt. She had to face the consequences too.
Meanwhile, Lindaâs assistant helped her onto a stretcher and then pointed accusingly at Hadley and Elissa. âStop them!â she shouted. âThey canât leave!â
Eric was finishing a meeting when Phillips approached him, his expression concerned. âMr. Flynn, your phone has been buzzingâ¦â
Incessantly, it seemed urgentâan unrelenting buzz. âItâs from Miss Harrisâ assistant,â Phillips said, looking at Eric with concern.
âSomething must be wrong,â Eric thought, his brow furrowing. He had been actively involved with Lindaâs affairs since Ernest was still recovering and couldnât handle the stress.
Taking his phone, Eric quickly dialed back.
âMr. Flynn!â The assistantâs voice was frantic. âLinda has been injured on set. Something heavy fell and pinned her leg!â
What? Ericâs expression darkened instantly. âWhat happened? Arenât you supposed to prevent these things? If you canât manage that, I might as well find someone who can!â
âMr. Flynn, please,â the assistant replied, trying to remain calm despite the scolding. âIt wasnât an accident. Someone did this on purpose.â
On purpose?
Ericâs expression hardened, his eyes narrowing into slits. âWho was responsible for this?â The sharp tone of his voice conveyed the gravity of his concern. Who would dare commit such an act?
