Chapter 575
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 575:
âHadley and her friend Elissa,â the assistant said sharply.
For a moment, Eric was stunned, disbelieving what he had just heard. A wry smile briefly crossed his face. âRepeat that, please.â
âItâs Hadley and Elissa!â the assistant repeated, her voice carrying a tone of outrage. âMr. Flynn, their behavior was completely unacceptable! It was two against one! And now, weâre not even sure about the extent of the damage to Lindaâs legâ¦â
Eric remained silent, absorbing the information without interjecting. After ending the call, he turned to Phillips. âI need you to handle something for me.â
âOf course, Mr. Flynn.â
At the police station, Hadley sat in one interrogation room while Elissa was in another. They started with Elissa, leaving Hadley to wait her turn.
By the time she was headed to the station, Hadley had gathered her composure and was clear on her next steps.
The door swung open, and a police officer stepped in.
Hadley sat up straight, bracing herself for what was coming. âOfficerâ¦â
âHadley Pearson.â
To her astonishment, the officer went straight to her and unlocked her handcuffs. âYouâre free to go.â
Confused, Hadley responded, âBut I havenât even been questioned yet.â
âYouâre cleared to go. Your involvement isnât confirmed,â the officer explained.
Hadley couldnât help but wonder if Elissa had shouldered the entire blame. She couldnât accept that without her account being considered.

Exiting the interrogation room, Hadley inquired of the officer, âMay I see my friend now?â
âSheâs still under questioning,â the officer replied honestly.
âThanks,â Hadley acknowledged his response.
Once outside the police station, Hadley quickly put her plan into action.
Knowing time was crucial, she hailed a taxi and made her way directly to the hospital.
During the ride, she dialed Lindaâs number. âItâs me, Hadley. We need to talkâ¦â
This call ensured her access to Lindaâs hospital room, which would have otherwise been difficult due to Lindaâs prominent status. A nurse guided Hadley to Lindaâs room upon her arrival at the hospital. âThis way, please.â
âThank you,â Hadley responded graciously.
She took a deep breath and opened the door.
Inside, she observed Eric sitting next to the bed, soothingly asking Linda, âHow are you feeling now? Is the pain still too much?â
âMuch better, thank you,â Linda said, resting back against the headboard. Her complexion was still a bit washed out, but her smile was reassuring.
âThatâs great to hear. Ernest will be here shortly. Drink some water in the meantime,â Eric suggested warmly, picking up a glass with a straw from the bedside table and assisting her to sip without needing to use her hands.
There was a gentle double knock at the door.
âExcuse the intrusion,â Hadleyâs voice came through as she tapped lightly.
Eric, without turning, remained beside the bed in silence.
âIs that Hadley?â Lindaâs expression brightened a touch as she saw who it was, signaling her closer. âCome in, please.â
