Chapter 578
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 578:
âErnest,â Linda said, her voice breaking as tears formed in her eyes.
âLinda.â Ernest reached out to comfort her, taking her hand. âYouâve been through a lot. Rest assured, those responsible will faceâ¦â
âConsequences.â
âYes, Ernest,â Eric agreed with a nod.
âNow, tell me where it hurts the most?â
âHere⦠itâs very painfulâ¦â
Feeling out of place, Eric decided to step outside, gently closing the door behind him. He pulled out his phone to check for any messages from Hadley. Was she avoiding him? Or perhaps too ashamed to face him? Regardless, he knew sheâd have to reach out eventually, for Elissaâs sake.
The following morning, Phillips arrived at Silver Villas to pick up Eric and brought some important news.
âMr. Flynn, the police station just called. Miss Harris has withdrawn her charges, and Elissa has been released!â
âWhat?â
Shock flashed through Ericâs narrowed eyes, disbelief etched across his face. âHow did this happen?â
Everything had been settledâheâd personally intervenedâand regardless of the confusion, Elissa had clearly shoved Linda!
âThe police informed me that Miss Harris dropped all charges.â
âWhat did you say?â Eric was even more confused. Had things really unfolded this way?
ðððððððð ðððð: gâ¶ð ððνðð ðêð¼ðð
Tension hardened Ericâs features, his voice becoming cold with urgency. âWeâre going to the hospitalânow.â
âUnderstood, Mr. Flynn.â
A loud crash echoed as Eric forcefully swung the hospital room door open.
âEric?â
Linda had barely opened her eyes when she saw Eric storming toward her, his barely restrained fury tightening her chest.
Smiling nervously, Linda asked softly, âWhatâs wrong? Whoâs managed to make you this angry so early?â
A cold smile twisted Ericâs lips, and his chilly glare intensified the heavy silence in the room. He went straight to the point, voice sharp and accusing. âExplain why you dropped the charges.â
âHmm?â Linda raised an eyebrow in mild surprise before smoothing her hair casually. âAre you referring to Elissa? Hadley visited me yesterday, and wellâ¦â
âHah.â Eric scoffed, his sarcastic amusement thinly veiled. âYouâre saying you suddenly became merciful because Hadley begged you?â
Lindaâs irritation grew steadily beneath his harsh tone.
Her smile remained carefully controlled as she answered coolly, âHadley is still a Flynn by adoption, isnât she? Family members help each other. Since she asked, it was natural for me to consider her feelings.â
âStop pretending you care!â
Ericâs rage erupted, overwhelming any remaining restraint. His voice sliced sharply through the silence. âYou think Iâve been blind this whole time? I know exactly how you feel about Hadley. Do you seriously expect me to believe youâd suddenly show mercy just because she asked nicely?â
âEricââ Linda faltered, her confidence slipping as her face turned pale. She stared at Eric and said, âYouâre right, kindness isnât in my nature. But if Iâd refused her, donât you think she wouldâve come running straight to you?â
