Chapter 580
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 580:
Eric cast her one final, steely glance. âConsider this your last warning. Stay out of my private life from now on.â
âEric, waitâ¦â
He ignored her, disappearing before she could protest further.
Thankfully, at least sheâd secured Elissaâs phone. Going back on promisesâthat was Ericâs decision and his problem to deal with, not Lindaâs.
Predictably, Hadley appeared at the hospital that same afternoon. âLinda!â
âYou donât have to explain,â Linda said quickly, raising her palms in helpless surrender. âI kept my promise and dropped the charges, but Eric refuses to let it rest.â
She sighed, continuing softly, âI did all I could to change his mind, but heâs determined to press charges anyway.â
âBut that makes no sense,â Hadley said, confused lines creasing her forehead. âYouâre the victim, and even you arenât pursuing this.â
âYouâre right. But assault is considered a crime. The victimâs forgiveness doesnât always stop the law.â
What?
Hadleyâs mind was on the verge of snapping! She glanced at Linda, a bitter laugh escaping her lipsâhow naive sheâd been, completely misjudging Ericâs devotion to Linda.
A woman he treasured, someone who haunted his memories, had been harmed. Of course, he wouldnât let it slide. Even if Linda had forgiven everything, Eric would still demand justice for her pain.
Silently, Hadley turned and walked away.
Linda squinted after Hadleyâs departing figure, a subtle smile of satisfaction curling at her lips. Who couldâve guessed sheâd be the ultimate winner in this complicated game?

True, her leg was injuredâbut she now held Elissaâs phone in her hands. Judging from Hadleyâs wounded pride, she probably despised Eric by now. Would Hadley still seek him out?
Linda silently prayed that Hadley wouldnât. She simply couldnât stand the idea of Eric and Hadley being together again. In fact, Hadley had no intention of returning to Eric, either. Her hesitation wasnât due to pride. Rather, Ericâs fierce protection of Linda had reached such extremes that Hadley suspected even begging wouldnât change his mind. Yet, no matter what, she had to confront him. This mess was her fault. Elissa shouldnât suffer the consequences alone.
Still, she wouldnât humiliate herself in front of Eric.
Hadley had her own strategyâthough it might not be entirely honorable.
After stepping outside the hospital, Hadley headed directly to the Flynn Group. Standing before the building, she dialed Ericâs number.
To her surprise, the call connected after only a few rings.
âHelloâ¦â
âHello?â The voice that answered belonged to Phillips, not Eric. âHadley? Are you trying to reach Mr. Flynn? Heâs occupied at the moment. Why donât you come upstairs and wait for him?â
With Phillipsâ words smoothing the way, Hadley effortlessly entered the Flynn Group, ascending directly to the top floor that housed the CEOâs imposing office.
This wasnât unfamiliar territory; even the secretaries greeted her warmly, their subtle smiles of recognition clear.
Hadley noticed her photo discreetly displayed at their desks, a silent testament to her standingâshe was the woman their boss himself had marked as important, someone they absolutely needed to remember.
