Chapter 600
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 600:
Though the shows were on hold, one thing was clear: their responsibilities werenât going anywhere.
Hadley scrutinized her new duties. She would manage the practice sessions for the younger trainees. These trainees werenât full-time members of the troupe, so her supervision would be brief each day. This lighter schedule was a welcome respite from her usual demands.
Elissa glanced at the plan and laughed. âYouâve earned this break. Enjoy the downtimeâyouâve been pushing yourself too hard lately.â
âAbsolutely,â Hadley replied, smiling as she made her way to the traineesâ class.
By noon, a member of the security team approached her. âHadley, thereâs someone here to meet you.â
âThanks so much!â Hadley answered, curiosity piqued as she exited the practice room. Surely it couldnât be Eric at this hour.
Approaching the lobby, her eyes landed on a figure standing near the bulletin board. Her heart dropped, and a quiet scoff escaped her lips before she turned to leave.
âHadley!â
To her astonishment, the figure spotted her just as she was turning away and quickly caught up, grasping her arm. âHadley! Why are you walking off?â
âLet go!â Hadley demanded, pulling away sharply as she scanned the area, her tone firm. âWhy are you here?â
âHadleyâ¦â
The man, Cade Jenkins, offered a strained smile as he gestured toward the poster on the bulletin board, which featured Hadley captured in mid-leap. âYouâve really excelled. I bet your mom and grandma are looking down on you in heaven with pride.â

âStop talking!â Hadley exclaimed, her eyes beginning to tear up. âHow dare you bring them up? Donât you think theyâd haunt you for it?â
âReally?â Cade chuckled sadly. âI wish they would visit me. Itâs been ages, and not once has your mom appeared to me.â
âWhat?â Hadley was stunned, unable to comprehend his words. She then lowered her voice. âWhat do you want? Get to the point, then leave.â
âHadley.â Cade looked around cautiously. âWe shouldnât discuss this here. Can we find a more secluded spot?â
Hadley weighed her options. She was at work, and airing personal grievances here could lead to unwanted drama among her colleagues. âOkay, fine.â
âExcellent,â Cade responded, visibly relieved. âLetâs go.â
He guided her to a nearby café.
âWhat would you like to drink?â
âI donât want anything.â Hadley dismissed the offer and fixed her gaze on him. âWe didnât come here to relax and catch up, did we? Just spit it out.â
âOkay then.â Cade nervously took a few sips of lemon water.
âSo, hereâs the thingâ¦â He pushed his glasses up his nose. âDo you recall our old place on Maple Street?â
Hadley frowned, processing the question. The house on Maple Street? Of course she rememberedâit was her very first home, despite her memories being dim and distant. âWhatâs the reason for bringing that up?â
âHereâs whyâ¦â Pausing to sip his water again, Cadeâs eyes appeared watery. âItâs your brotherâ¦â
âStop spouting nonsense!â Hadley cut in sharply, disbelief etched across her face. âI was an only child. Thereâs no brother in my family.â
