Chapter 601
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 601:
âActually,â Cade said with an awkward grin, âI meant Brady. Itâs Brady whoâs in trouble.â
He paused, covering his eyes with a hand, his voice breaking.
Hadleyâs reaction was a mix of shock and confusion. Brady in trouble?
âWhat was that supposed to mean?â Hadleyâs voice trembled with a mix of anxiety and annoyance. âWhat are you trying to say? Am I supposed to just sit here and watch you cry?â
âThatâs not what Iââ Cade dabbed at his eyes and adjusted his glasses. âBrady was in an accident recently. Heâs suffered serious liver damage, and his condition is critical.â
Hadleyâs lips twisted into a sardonic smile. âBrady is dying? Well, Cade, it looks like your past is catching up with you.â
Cade tensed, his eyes reddening instantly. âHadley, you may despise me, but Brady has done nothing wrong. Itâs unfair to hold him accountableâ¦â
âHeâs innocent? Well, whatever. His fate is none of my concern anyway.â Hadley scoffed.
Noticing the tension rise, Cade leaned forward. âListenâdoctors said Brady urgently needs a liver transplant. With timely surgery, he could recover.â
The news visibly shook Hadley, her body quivering as she stared at Cade in astonishment. âYouâre not suggesting I donate my liver to him, are you?â
âHadley!â Cade exclaimed, grabbing her arm to prevent her from leaving. âYour blood type matches Bradyâs, and as his sister, youâre the best match for a donor!â
As Cade spoke, a cold dread spread through Hadleyâs chest, sending shivers down her spine. Why did the air feel so bitterly cold?
The man standing before Hadley was the one she was supposed to call father. And look at what heâd done!
Once, Cade had sworn undying love to his wife, whispered sweet promises of forever, and shared the kind of moments that should have been unbreakable. He had been overjoyed at Hadleyâs birth, cradling her in his arms as if she were the most precious thing in the world.

But all of itâthe love, the devotionâhad been a lie.
One day, everything changed. He abandoned his wife and child for his wifeâs sister without so much as a backward glance, leaving them to fend for themselves as if they had never mattered at all.
Not once did he look back. Not once did he reach out.
If the Flynn family hadnât later taken Hadley in, she didnât even want to imagine what her life would have become.
And now, after years of silence, after treating her like she didnât exist, he had the gall to show up and ask her for a favor?
Not just any favor. He actually wanted her liver.
Hadleyâs lips curled into a sharp, humorless laugh.
Did Cade really think she was that easy to manipulate?
Cade remained calm, unfazed by her reaction. His voice was smooth, practicedâlike a salesman closing a deal. âHadley, I wouldnât ask you to do this for nothing.â
He paused, as if setting a trap. âThe house on Maple Streetâthe one filled with your motherâs memories. If you agree, Iâll sign it over to you. Thatâs what you want, isnât it?â
Hadley stilled, her breath catching.
So that was what this was. He wasnât asking. He was bartering.
The laughter bubbled out of Hadley, sharp and unrestrained, growing louder until it filled the space between them.
