Chapter 607
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 607:
âYes, I can.â Hadley averted her gaze, peering downward at her. âHeâs always been nothing but trouble. Perhaps this is for the best.â
âYouâ¦â Noreen was left speechless, seething with fury.
âHumph.â With a scoff, Hadley taunted, âAre you upset? Do you even have that right to be? When you shattered my family, did you ever anticipate retribution like this? Itâs almost poetic, isnât it?â
She broke away from Noreenâs grasp and turned around.
âHadley!â
Realizing her pleas were ignored, Noreenâs face twisted with rage. âI destroyed your family? Stop lying to yourself! The real reasonâ¦â
âYour mother died because of you⦠Hadley! You were the one who killed her!â
Hadley stopped in her tracks, her vision suddenly turning blood-red.
She couldnât remain here a moment longer.
Her fists clenched, she began to walk faster.
âHaha! Hadley, where do you think youâre going? Youâre a heartless, selfish monsterâa curse to everyone around you! It was you who took your motherâs life, always you! Ha!â
With each taunt, Hadleyâs complexion turned ever more ashen, her legs barely supporting her.
She had to run, stumbling as she went. Where was she?
âHadley?â
Out of nowhere, a familiar voice reached her ears.
Eric noticed her from a distance, quickened his pace to her side, and grasped her arm.

âHadley, what happened? You look soâ¦â
He noticed how shaken she seemed.
Yet, he couldnât complete his thought as Hadley collapsed into his embrace, clutching him tightly.
Suddenly, a flood of emotions washed over Eric, leaving him frozen in place.
Although he often appeared to lead in his relationship with Hadley, in truth, she held the reins. He wanted no one else but her.
Still, she remained distant, as if she could walk away at any moment. Yet now, she sought comfort in his embrace, like he was her anchor.
Compelled by his feelings, Eric leaned in to hold her close, her fragrance enveloping him, utterly captivating. Her scent was mesmerizing, completely intoxicating.
âEric,â she whispered faintly.
âIâm not feeling well. Would you mind helping me down the hill?â
âOf course.â
Casting a worried glance at her, Eric caressed her cold cheek, noticing the chill of her hands as well.
With no time to hesitate, he lifted her in his arms and hurried down the hill.
Upon reaching the car, he gently set her inside, handed her a water bottle, and helped her drink.
âHave some water.â
âOkay.â Hadley sipped a little and then gestured for no more.
Eric wanted to ask about what had happened on the hill, but her pale face held him back. He gently stroked her hair. âJust relax and get some rest.â
