Chapter 609
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 609:
Eric, seeing her resolve, felt he had no choice.
He steered the vehicle toward her apartment.
Silence enveloped the car as Eric glanced at Hadley from time to time, reminding himself to show compassion. Today was one of those days when Hadley missed her mother terribly. Her emotions were raw and understandable.
His concern for her grew, yet he knew patience was essential.
Why rush things? They had only reconciled for a few days. Building relationships took time.
As was his custom, Eric stopped at the apartment complexâs gate, eager to walk her in. âHadley, Iâll just tell the guards to let us in.â
âYou donât need to.â Hadley dismissed the idea with a wave. âThanks for everything today. Iâm worn out and need some alone time. Iâll call you tomorrow.â
Then, quite unexpectedly, she leaned in and kissed Eric. âGoodnight.â
The kiss sent a surge of emotions through Eric, leaving him tingling from head to toe.
As he watched Hadley walk away, he whispered, âGoodnight, Hadley.â She always knew just how to get to him!
Eric had originally intended to head back to Silver Villas.
However, the thought of the empty house without Hadley made him change his mind; he drove toward Flynn Mansion instead.
Upon arrival, after a quick word with their housekeeper, Eric made his way to the backyard where he spotted Ernest settling down after his therapy session.
âErnest,â Eric called out, pulling up a chair to sit beside him.
Ernest looked up, puzzled. âWhat brings you here today?â

âI came to check on you and Grandma,â Eric said with a mischievous grin, yet his tone shifted as he leaned in. âErnest, thereâs something I need to know. Are you aware of how Hadleyâs mother died?â
Having been closer to Hadley than his brother ever was while she was still with the Flynns, Ernest was more familiar with her past.
âHer mother?â
Ernestâs expression turned somber. âGrandma once mentioned it was a tragic accident. She disappeared for two days and was eventually found at the bottom of a mountain cliff. It seems she fell.â
âI understand.â
Eric nodded. He hesitated before asking, âHow old was Hadley at that time?â
âShe was around six or seven, I believe.â
Ernest fixed a penetrating gaze on his brother. âYou seem quite invested in Hadleyâs past; does this mean you finally care for her now?â
âUmâ¦â
Caught off guard by Ernestâs comment, Eric stammered, âShouldnât I be more involved? I feel like itâs the least I can do.â
âA little self-reflection, huh?â With an unreadable look, Ernest asked pointedly, âDo you have genuine feelings for Hadley?â
Eric paused, choosing his words carefully.
âLook, Ernest, this is all new to me. Iâm not sure how deep myâ¦â
âFeelings go, but I do know that I want to be with her.â That declaration seemed to hold weight.
Ernestâs emotions were mixed as he considered Ericâs words. He gave Eric a meaningful look and let out a resigned sigh. âYouâre really growing up.â
