Chapter 618
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 618:
Eric frowned and asked Hadley, âDo you know who those people were? Why did they take you?â
âIâm not familiar with them,â Hadley replied, her voice weak. âThey planned to take compromising photos to use as leverage against me.â Her statement was accurate but didnât reveal everything.
Eric scoffed at the audacity. Were these people that desperate for money?
âDonât worry. Weâll track them down as long as theyâre still in Srixby.â
âUh.â Hadley winced suddenly, gripping Ericâs arm tightly. âItâs really painful.â
Startled by her pain, Eric turned to his subordinate sharply. âStop staring and bring the car over now!â
âRight away, Mr. Flynn!â
As Eric helped Hadley toward the vehicle, he asked cautiously, âCan you make it on your own, or should I carry you?â
Overwhelmed by pain, Hadley slumped into his arms, unable to maintain her balance.
What now?
In a state of high alert, Eric reassured her, even though he was careful not to touch her sore shoulder. âTell me exactly where youâre hurting?â
Eric noticed Hadley clutching her stomach in agony.
What had those two done to her? Could they have harmed her stomach?
He immediately lifted her into his arms.
âEric!â
Curled up in his embrace, a wave of fear washed over Hadley. The intense pain in her lower stomach sparked a horrifying thought⦠her child might be in danger.

Gripping Ericâs shirt tightly, her voice filled with desperation, Hadley pleaded, âPlease, hurry to the hospital! Save me, Eric! Please!â
âHang tight!â Ericâs voice cracked with urgency, sweat streaming down his temples. âWeâre heading to the hospital immediately! Youâll be okayâI swear Iâll protect you. Nothing bad will happen on my watch!â
He barely waited for the car door to close before his subordinate took the driverâs seat, swiftly starting the engine.
Ericâs fingers trembled slightly as he dialed Phillipsâ number.
âPhillips! Alert the medical teamâwe need surgeons, specialists in orthopedicsââ
âAnd obstetrics!â Hadleyâs voice sliced through his instructions sharply.
Eric froze, phone nearly slipping from his grasp.
âHadley, waitâwhat did you just say?â
Time seemed to stretch unbearably as she met his gaze, eyes glistening with urgency and fear. She hadnât planned to reveal this, especially not nowâbut silence was no longer an option.
If she stayed quiet, she risked losing the fragile life growing inside her. She knew the risk, knew Eric likely hadnât planned for this childâbut desperation overshadowed her.
Grasping his sleeve tighter, her voice shook, raw with pleading.
âEric, please⦠You have to save my baby! I understand if you donât want this childâIâll take full responsibility and raise the child alone. I wonât ask anything from you, I promise. But please, help us!â
Her voice dissolved into a sob, her free hand gently cradling her abdomen.
