Chapter 620
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 620:
âYou always jump to conclusions without ever talking to me first. Weâre nearly at the hospitalâjust hold on a bit longer.â
Hadley remained quiet, sinking further into his embrace. Right now, nothing about Eric made sense.
If he never truly cared for her, why wasnât he bothered that sheâsomeone he supposedly didnât loveâwas carrying his child?
As the hospital loomed into view, the pain intensified, twisting relentlessly.
Her eyes suddenly snapped open, her hand desperately clutching his.
âEric!â
His response was immediate, fierce, and reassuring. âIâm right hereâIâm not going anywhere!â Ericâs pulse spiked with panic. âHadley, whatâs happening?â
âIâ Iâ¦â Tears surged uncontrollably into her eyes, her voice fragile and terrified. âIâm bleeding.â
Bleeding?
The word echoed chillingly in Ericâs mind.
He knew exactly what this meant for a pregnant woman. Instantlyâ¦
Memories of Lindaâs miscarriage four years ago surged vividly. His grip tightened fiercely around Hadleyâs trembling hand, pressing it urgently to his lips.
âYouâll be alright,â he whispered desperately, his voice shaking despite his attempts to sound reassuring. âYou have to be alright.â But dread clung heavily to each word.
Eric knew far too well what might lie ahead.
Pulling Hadley even closer, he shouted frantically at the driver, âDrive faster! Damn it, push the accelerator!â

âMr. Flynn,â the driver replied tensely, desperation evident in his voice. âWeâre already going as fast as we possibly can!â
Eric fell silent, the crushing helplessness hitting him harder than heâd ever known. For the first time in his life, Eric faced a crisis without answers.
Hadley gripped his hand desperately, tears slipping silently down her pale cheeks. Eric gently lowered his head, brushing his lips tenderly over her tear-soaked eyes.
âDonât cry,â he murmured softly. âItâs too early to lose hope.â
He hesitated, his throat tightening painfully. âEven ifââ
The words caught, strangling his voice before he could finish. He couldnât bring himself to voice such a devastating thought, offering instead a shaky, fragile comfort. âWeâre still young. Weâll have another chanceâ¦â
âNo! No, Eric!â Hadley shook her head fiercely, eyes red and flooded with tears. âI donât want anotherâI only want this one!â
âAlright, alright!â Eric quickly agreed, his voice breaking slightly as he stroked her hair gently. âJust this one, then. Weâll keep this one safe, I promise!â
Hadley stared up at him, unable to speak.
What did Eric know about her pain?
His reassurances meant nothingâjust like he understood nothing! If she lost this child, she wouldnât merely lose her baby, but also Joyâs only hope!
The car screeched to a halt.
The subordinate quickly exited, opening Ericâs door with urgency. âMr. Flynn, weâve arrived!â
âHold on, Hadleyâyouâre safe now!â
Eric swiftly lifted Hadley from the car, his grip gentle yet firm. Phillips and a team of medical staff were already rushing forward, guiding a gurney toward them.
