Chapter 627
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 627:
By noon, the restaurant was buzzing with life.
Elissa, being the quickest on her feet, spotted an open window seat and waved them over. âHadley! Alice! Over here!â
âComing!â
Settling in, the three of them browsed the menu, debating what to order.
Hadley glanced at Alice, a small furrow of concern on her brow. âAlice, Iâm not sure if youâll like the food here. Weâll order some, and if itâs not to your taste, we can always grab a burger later.â
Alice waved off the concern with a grin. And when the food finally arrived, she proved it.
âMmm! Delicious, delicious!â
Hadley and Elissa exchanged amused looks before encouraging her.
âThen have some more!â
âDonât mind if I do!â
Alice, never one to hold back, happily piled more food onto her plate as the three of them laughed and chatted. But thenâ
âHuh?â
Alice suddenly paused, her gaze snapping toward the TV screen mounted in the corner of the restaurant. She pointed. âIsnât that him?â
âWho?â Hadley followed her gaze.
On the screen, a financial news segment was playing. And the man currently being featured was⦠Eric.
âOh!â Alice clapped her hands, eyes lighting up. âIs this guy famous in Srixby?â

âSort of.â Hadley nodded, still puzzled. âWaitâAlice, do you know him?â Elissa leaned in, equally curious. âYeah, Alice, you seem like you know him well.â
Alice waved a hand dismissively, grinning. âNot really.â
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, her expression shifted. She turned to Hadley, her tone teasing yet oddly serious. âBy the way, didnât you ask me before about the person who saved you?â
Hadley stiffened slightly.
She had asked. After her rescue, she had pressed Alice for details, desperate to know who had pulled her out of that nightmare. But at the time, Alice was also shaken and had struggled to describe him. She could picture that face in her mind, but it was still elusive.
Yet Alice simply didnât know how to put it into words. In the end, all she could tell Hadley was that it was a young man, incredibly handsome.
âLook!â
Aliceâs lips curled into a knowing smile as she lifted a finger, pointing at the TV screen. âIsnât it him?â Alice asked, her voice filled with certainty. âHadley, whatâs his name againâ¦? Yes! Eric, right? Well, there you have itâheâs your savior!â
Hadley froze, her eyes widening in shock. Could it really have been Eric?
Elissa, just as stunned, stole a glance at Hadley before voicing the question that was stuck on her lips. âAre you sure, Alice?â she asked, her tone laced with skepticism. âCould you have mistaken him for someone else?â
âNo, Iâm totally sure,â Aliceâs response was firm and unwavering. âA man that handsome? Trust me, heâs not the kind of face you forget.â
Elissa said nothing more, and Hadley sat in silence, her thoughts spinning.
