Chapter 650
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 650:
Later, that nightâ¦
Hadley had sunk into deep sleep whenâA sudden weight pressed down on her. Warm breath ghosted over her skin, and before she could reactâA hand covered her mouth.
âMm!â
On instinct, she lashed out, her knee jerking upward, ready to land a solid kick.
âWhoa!â
A deep, amused chuckle vibrated against her ear. âYou need to calm down with those kicks! Arenât you worried about damaging my goods?â
âEric!â
Hadleyâs eyes snapped open. Irritation flared through her, wiping away the last traces of sleep. âItâs the middle of the night! Canât you just let me sleep?â
âI canât sleep without any action⦠Please!â
Hadley let out a tired sigh, muttering in protest. âCanât we take a break for just one day?â
Even back when she had been eager to conceive, she hadnât been as relentless as he was.
âSure!â Eric agreed easily, but his actions betrayed his wordsâhis lips still traced slow, teasing kisses along her skin. âTomorrow, youâll get your restâ¦â
It wasnât until the morning the next day that Hadley finally understood what Eric was talking about.
As it turned out, he had to leave for Tidebourne for business in the afternoon.
Before his departure, he dropped Hadley off at her place, parking at the entrance as he always did.
Before stepping out of the car, Hadleyâs gaze lingered on him suspiciously.

âWhat?â Eric raised a brow, touching his face. âIs there something on me?â
âNo, itâs not that.â Hadley shook her head, but her eyes flickered briefly to his suit pocket.
The hair clips. They were still there. He hadnât given them to her.
He must have forgotten about them!
She smiled faintly. âIâm going.â
âOkay, Iâll see you later!â
With that, Hadley stepped out of the car and took a few steps forward. But the moment Ericâs car was out of sight, Hadley reappearedâher expression determined.
She hurried to the street, flagging down a passing taxi. âPlease! Follow that car!â
Eric navigated the car slowly, particularly as they neared the riverside park.
He intentionally stopped the car and lowered the window, peering out in hopes of spotting Joy.
Considering Joy had been hospitalized just the day before, he actually wasnât optimistic about seeing her here today.
Yet, there she was unexpectedly! Joy, well-wrapped against the cold, sat on a swing, gently pushed by a boy who seemed slightly older.
Eric exited the vehicle.
âEnjoying yourself?â the boy behind Joy asked.
âYup!â
âWant to swing higher?â
âOh yes, please! Hahaâ¦â
âJoy,â Eric called out, reaching for the swingâs ropes to stabilize them. Joy had her hat and mask on, leaving only her eyes visible, which sparkled as she noticed Eric.
