Chapter 656
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 656:
A brief moment of bewilderment washed over Eric before he questioned, âThis⦠fiery red?â
âIs there an issue with that?â
Hadleyâs expression turned into a slight pout. âItâs an excellent color! Youâre always dressed in black and whiteâtoo monotonous for someone your age.â
Pleased with her selection, she continued, âSuch a bold color suits a man of your charm.â
Indeed, it was a compliment. Hadley had just complimented his appearance!
Ericâs eyebrows lifted as he couldnât hold back a grin, quickly agreeing. âI believe youâre right.â
Reassessing the fiery red yarn, it now held a new allure.
He stroked the yarn, noting its texture. âThis is quite soft.â
âExactly.â Hadley confirmed. âItâll be very cozy once Iâve knitted it into a sweater.â
She then playfully slapped his hand away. âDonât mess it up; youâll make it dirty.â
âStingy,â Eric teased, pulling his hand back with a smile. âOkay, I get it.â
âI wonât touch it anymore. But Iâll be the one wearing it in the end.â His spirits lifted. Since he couldnât fiddle with the yarn, he decided to hold Hadleyâs hand instead.
âWhy did you decide to knit me a sweater?â
Hadley gestured towards her wristwatch. âYou gave me this lovely watch. I donât have much, so I thought a sweater might be a nice gesture. Itâs not as grand as your gift, but please donât hold it against me.â
âWhat are you talking about?â Eric interrupted her, his smile broadening as he gazed down at her. âHold it against you? Why would I? I absolutely love it. Iâll wear it with pride.â
In that instant, his look and smile radiated nothing but honesty. Caught off guard for a moment, Hadley quickly withdrew her hand.

âAlright. Iâll get it done quickly.â
âSure.â
Just then, a waiter appeared, bringing their ordered dishes to the table. As he placed food on her plate, Eric casually inquired, âWhat would you like to do after dinner?â
âHmm?â Hadley seemed confused by his question.
âMaybe some shopping, or perhaps buy something you need?â
Hadley declined. âNo need for shopping or buying anything for me.â
âRight.â
Eric remembered then. Shopping was never really Hadleyâs thing. He paused, thinking, and then suggested another idea, âWhat about a movie?â
This suggestion seemed to startle Hadley, who looked at him with wide eyes.
Feeling slightly awkward under her stare, Eric explained, âIsnât that what couples usually do? Weâve never actually gone to a movie together.â
He grabbed his phone as he spoke. âLet me book the tickets right now.â Launching the movie ticket app, Eric handed the phone to Hadley.
âChoose any movie youâd like to see.â
His eagerness to make her happy was apparent.
After scanning the options, Hadley selected a comedy. âLetâs watch this one.â
âGot it.â
Once they left Winterley Restaurant, they headed to a nearby cinema. Despite it being a weekday evening, the cinema was bustling with people, and a long line snaked from the ticket booth.
