Chapter 660
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 660:
Past experiences gnawed at him, leaving a lingering unease in his gut. Still holding her hand, he suggested, âWhy donât you come along with me?â
âAnd why would I?â Hadley shot him a pointed look, slipping her hand free from his grasp with a shake of her head. âYou go look after her.â
Iâd rather stay and finish this filmâitâs quite good.â
âHadleyâ¦â Eric tried again, his tone softer. âMust you be so unreasonable?â
Hadleyâs patience was fraying now, a trace of irritation creeping into her voice. âItâs bad enough you wonât stay to watch with me, but now you wonât even let me enjoy it in peace? Iâm really enjoying this movie.â
âHadleyâ¦â Eric pressed.
But Hadley turned her head away, refusing to meet his gaze or offer another word.
Eric watched her in silence for a few lingering moments before finally relenting. âFine, keep watching.â
He glanced at his watch, mentally calculating the time. âIâll arrange for Sebastian to pick you up afterward.â
Hadley said nothing.
âIâll take my leave now.â
This time, Hadley didnât bother with a reply, merely flicking her hand in a dismissive gesture.
Ericâs brow creased slightly as he exited the theater.
Pausing at the entrance, he hesitated before sending Hadley a quick message.
âIf I can wrap things up in time, Iâll come back to fetch you myself. If I canât make it, please give me a ring when you get home.â

The message went through, but no response followed. Perhaps she was too engrossed in the film to notice? Eric sighed softly.
She would likely see it once the credits rolled.
With that, he left the cinema and made his way to the hospital. By the time he reached the hospital, Linda had been settled into a room and was awake, albeit frail.
âEric, you came.â Linda propped herself up against the headboard, her complexion pale and wan. âSorry to drag you all the way here. Itâs nothing direâjust low blood sugar from skipping lunch while rushing through the shoot.â
She gestured to the IV drip beside her. âA couple of these, and Iâll be right as rain.â
Then she turned to her agent and assistant with a playful scolding. âYou lot always make a mountain out of a molehill.â
âTheyâre only looking out for you,â Eric said, pulling up a chair to sit by her bedside. âBut honestly, with all the wedding preparations on your plate, why push yourself so hard at work?â
Linda managed a faint chuckle. âWell, a job worth doing is worth doing well, isnât it?â
Her gaze flickered past Eric, a shadow of disappointment crossing her face. âErnest didnât come?â
Though Eric harbored his own doubts about his brother, he wasnât one to speak ill of him in front of othersânot even Ernestâs own fiancée. âI told them not to bother Ernest just yet,â he explained smoothly. âWanted to check on you myself first, so he wouldnât worry needlessly.â
âOh.â Linda nodded, accepting his words at face value. âThatâs considerate of you. Ernest is still recovering, after all.â
âIndeed,â Eric replied, his tone neutral but his thoughts elsewhere.
Just then, his phone rang in his pocket.
