Chapter 679
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 679:
âHe spent a good amount of time with Joy.â
She turned back to Joy, softly touching her head.
âHe might be occupied with important matters right now, Joy. I donât think we should disturb him.â
âBut he told me to call if I felt sick,â Joy insisted, her lower lip quivering.
Melba glanced at Hadley, seeking confirmation.
âShould I call him? He seemed like a decent man.â
Hadley gave a small nod.
âYes, call him.â
âOkay.â
Melba was encouraged by Hadleyâs prompt approval and wasted no time in calling Eric.
âHello?â Eric picked up almost immediately, intuitively asking,
âIs something wrong with Joy?â
âYes,â Melba responded, not hiding the truth.
âShe became quite distressed during her treatment today⦠I apologize for the intrusion.â
âThatâs alright.â Eric reassured her warmly.
âYouâre doing a wonderful job. Hereâs what weâll doâ¦â
After a brief pause to check his schedule, he suggested,
âIâll visit Joy this afternoon. Please tell her to stay calm and wait for me.â
âUnderstood. Thank you, sir.â

Melba ended the call with a smile, turning to Joy.
âHeâs promised to visit you later today, so letâs try to be brave until then, okay?â
âYes!â
Though still sniffling and slightly uncomfortable, Joyâs spirits visibly lifted.
Melba reflected quietly.
âLife really is full of surprises. Joy and that gentleman seem to share a unique bond.â
Hadley managed a small smile, acknowledging the deep yet fragile connection between father and daughter, silently pondering its future.
Eric wrapped up his afternoon tasks before heading to the hospital. But first, he made a call to the doctor treating his brother, Ernest.
âMr. Flynn.â The doctor sounded slightly puzzled.
âAre you referring to your brotherâs condition? Heâs recovering well.â
Though Ernestâs rapid recovery was notable, especially with the substantial financial aid from the Flynn family, that wasnât Ericâs current concern.
âNo, thatâs not what I need,â Eric said, with a tone of urgency.
âIâm interested in whether the treatment being used on my brother is appropriate for children.â
âFor a child? What are the specifics of the childâs condition?â
Eric described Joyâs medical situation in detail to the doctor.
Considering the information, the doctor replied,
âIt should generally be safe, but Iâd advise confirming with her primary physician to tailor the dosage correctly.â
âThank you, doctor. Thatâs all I need to hear,â Eric said before ending the call and setting off for the hospital.
