Chapter 702
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 702:
She paused to visit Eric, waiting for Ernest to fetch her.
As Hadley entered, she arrived just in time to catch the tail end of a conversation, marked by Lindaâs subdued crying.
Eric offered her a tissue, saying,
âYou should talk to Ernest. Yes, he made errors, butâ¦â
His voice trailed off as he noticed Hadley.
âHadley,â said Eric, his face breaking into a gentle smile. âYouâve arrived.â
âYes.â
Looking from Eric to Linda, Hadley voiced her concern.
âEric was searching for you all night, and he ended up getting hurt. How are you holding up?â
Taken aback by the question, Linda answered,
âIâm alright, thank you.â
She wiped away her tears, stood, and added,
âErnest will be here shortly. I think Iâll wait for him outside.â
âSure thing,â Hadley said with a smile as she escorted Linda to the door, which she opened gracefully.
âTake care,â she added.
âWill do.â With a tentative smile, Linda exited.
âHadley,â Eric called from the bed, extending his hand toward her. âJoin me here, please.â

After closing the door, Hadley approached and took the seat Linda had just left, deliberately overlooking his extended hand.
âHow are you holding up?â she inquired.
Ericâs expression shifted to one of disappointment.
âWhy sit so far? Move closer; letâs be comfortable.â
Hadley eyed his bandages and offered a cautious smile.
âArenât you worried about aggravating your injuries?â
His grin broadened.
âAre you concerned for me?â
What did he just say? Perplexed by his reasoning, Hadley stared at him.
âYour injury wasnât my fault. Why should I feel concerned?â
âHadley!â
Ericâs voice sliced through the air, sharp and unyielding. His expression darkened, the muscle in his jaw tightening as he stared her down. His lips pressed into a hard line, every inch of him radiating frustration.
âWhy so tense?â she said, tilting her head slightly. âAm I wrong?â Her gaze locked onto his, unwavering.
âYou got hurt protecting the person you care aboutâshouldnât she be the one here, feeling concerned?â
âEnough,â Eric snapped, his voice edged with warning. âStop bringing her up every chance you get.â
