Chapter 708
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 708:
âHadley had a rough night. Sheâs fast asleep now, so let her be. Home is more comfortable than here. She needs her sleep.â
Reluctantly, Phillips agreed.
âUnderstood.â
Hadley continued sleeping well into the next day, skipping meals to catch up on her rest.
Waking up feeling rejuvenated, she headed downstairs where the housekeeper had already prepared breakfast.
Enjoying her meal at a leisurely pace, Hadley noted the time. It was time to make her way to the hospital.
Choosing not to call Sebastian, she left the villa, opting for a bus followed by the subway, in no particular hurry.
Upon her arrival at the hospital, she discovered that Ernest and Linda had visited Eric early that morning, coinciding with the doctorâs rounds.
âMr. Flynn, Iâm pleased to report that your brother is responding well to treatment. With continued care over the next few days, he should recover nicely.â
âAppreciate it.â
âYouâre welcome.â
Once the doctor had exited, Linda surveyed the room, noted Hadleyâs absence, and her expression turned to one of frustration.
âWhere could Hadley have gone this early? She missed the doctorâs rounds? How can she look after you if sheâs not even here to listen to what the doctor says?â

Ericâs expression softened slightly.
âShe was quite tired from the day before last. I suggested she go home to get some rest last night.â
âReally?â Lindaâs voice was filled with disbelief.
âYou actually sent her home? And she just left?â
âYes,â Eric responded, his tone even.
Linda scoffed,
âQuite the scene, isnât it? Her boyfriendâs laid up in the hospital, and she doesnât seem to mind at all!â
âLinda,â Ernest interjected with a frown, coming to Hadleyâs defense.
âShe was genuinely worn out.â
âWhy do you feel the need to defend her?â Linda asked, turning her gaze to Ernest.
âAre you confused too? Ericâs not himself right now, and neither are you, it seems! I canât believe youâre blind to the truth. Hadley doesnât truly care for Eric! Youâre his brother; you should be telling him to guard his heart, not encouraging this fantasyâ¦â
At that moment, the door clicked open. Hadley walked in without knocking, causing a sudden hush to fall over the room.
Linda stopped mid-sentence, and all eyes shifted to Hadley.
With a gentle smile, Hadley said, âGood morning⦠Ernest, good morning.â
âGood morning,â Ernest replied quietly, his voice soft. He shot a glance at Linda and then rose, using his cane for support.
