Chapter 709
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 709:
âNow that Hadley is here, we should be on our way,â he suggested.
Reaching out, he offered his hand to Linda.
Linda shot him a frustrated look but took his arm, saying, âAlright, have it your way.â
Ernest gave her hand a gentle pat and glanced at Hadley with a playful smirk.
âNow that youâre here, Eric will be in good spirits. He couldnât stop talking about you the whole time, and frankly, my ears need a break.â
Without reacting to his joke, Hadley accompanied Ernest to the door and saw him out.
She then turned back to Eric, observing his attractive but somewhat pale and frail features, and pursed her lips.
âI apologize. I meant to rest for just a bit yesterday after my shower, but exhaustion took over, and I couldnât wake up. How did you fare last night?â
Eric looked at her thoughtfully. Her explanation was logical; she apologized, showed concern, and tried to reconnectâ¦
Still, he sensed a gap between them.
Hadley was physically close, yet emotionally, it felt as if she were miles away.
Ericâs expression darkened slightly.
âI survived the night, at least.â
Was he being sarcastic again? Hadley let out a small laugh, wondering if he was throwing a tantrum again.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

It opened to reveal the nurse.
âMiss Pearson,â the nurse said, her tone official. âHas Mr. Flynn eaten yet? We shouldnât administer the IV on an empty stomach.â
âNo!â Eric interrupted before Hadley could respond affirmatively.
âYou havenât eaten yet?â Hadley expressed her surprise. âHow have you gone all morning without food?â
Eric chuckled ruefully. âWell, youâve just gotten here and brought nothing with you. What was I supposed to eat?â
Sarcasm dripped from Ericâs words like honey laced with venom.
âYou mean to tell me you havenât eaten anything yet?â
Hadley blinked, her expression the perfect mix of feigned shock and mock concern.
âSeriously? Linda rushed over bright and early to see her dear life saverâand she didnât even think to bring breakfast?â
She then let out a dramatic sigh, shaking her head in disapproval.
âHow inconsiderate!â
Ericâs brows furrowed, irritation flickering across his face as Hadley continued.
âWhy are you taking this out on me then? What, do you expect me to bring you food now?â
Hadley let out a scoff, crossing her arms.
âLetâs get things straight hereâone, you didnât end up in this hospital because of me. And two, Iâm not your personal waitress.â
âHadley!â
