Chapter 714
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 714:
After successfully finishing the dessert, Hadley cleared the dishes away before beginning to organize her things around the room.
From the bed, Eric silently observed every move she made, unwilling or perhaps unable to look elsewhere.
When Hadley finally finished tidying up, she picked up her phone and curled up comfortably on the small sofa.
Since gaming didnât interest her, she opened a video app and immersed herself in a variety show.
Eric couldnât see what captured her attention, but the sound of her laughter drifting over to him was unmistakable.
âHadley.â Eric shot a sharp look at the woman lounging across from him, his brow creasing. âCome here.â
Setting down her phone, Hadley asked patiently, âWhat is itâwater, bathroom?â
âNeither.â Eric tapped the empty space next to him decisively. âCome lie down over here instead. That sofaâs too cramped and uncomfortable.â
âIâd rather not.â Hadley firmly shook her head. âIâm perfectly fine over here. Your bed might be larger, but youâre hurt all overâwhat if I accidentally bump into you?â
Without further argument, she returned her attention to her phone screen, laughing softly again at whatever amused her.
At that moment, Ericâs temper finally snapped, unable to bear her aloofness any longer.
In a burst of irritation, he threw the blankets aside, clenched his jaw, and got up from the bed, determinedly heading straight toward the sofa.

Footsteps echoed sharply, causing Hadley to glance up from her phoneâonly to find Eric, tightly bandaged and pale, looming over her.
âEric, what on earth are youââ
For a moment, she was speechless, stunned to see him upright. âHave you lost your mind?â
Considering his condition, he shouldnât have even been sitting up, let alone standing here before her.
âIf you insist on ignoring me, Iâll just carry you myself.â
Ignoring the sharp pain, Eric reached down and swiftly pulled her into his arms. âI said I want you beside me.â
âEric!â
As her body lifted off the sofa, panic surged in Hadleyâs eyes. Instinctively, she twisted to break free. âPut me down immediately!â Had he completely lost his senses?
âStop it, Eric! Your wounds! Youâll hurt yourself!â
âI donât care!â Eric scoffed defiantly, carrying her toward the bed despite his ghostly pale complexion and the sweat beginning to bead on his forehead.
âAh!â Hadley gasped aloud when he laid her down abruptly. âEric, waitâlet me see your injuriesââ
But before she could rise, Eric silenced her protests by capturing her lips in a fierce, possessive kiss.
His lips slid across her face, trailing downward insistently.
