Chapter 735
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 735:
âWhy are the lights still on?â
She stepped cautiously into the living room, scanning the area for the phone sheâd left behind. There, on the floor, she saw Hadley.
âMiss Pearson? What happened?â
For a moment, she stood frozen, stunned, before her instincts kicked in. She rushed forward, dropping to her knees beside Hadley, hands trembling as she gently lifted her.
Hadleyâs body was ice-cold. Her face was pale and her eyes were clenched shut. A sharp wave of panic rushed through the cleaning lady. âMiss Pearson! Can you hear me? Wake up!â
No response. Of all the times for this to happenâEric wasnât home! Her fingers fumbled for her phone. She needed to call emergency services immediately. And securityâthey had to be alerted so the ambulance could gain access.
By the time Eric wrapped up his meeting and left Poseidonâs Realm, it was nearly five in the morning. The scent of alcohol clung to him as he slid behind the wheel, exhaustion pressing against his temples. All he wanted was a shower, a change of clothes, and maybeâif he was luckyâa quick nap before the day began.
Pulling up to the communityâs entrance gates, he waited as they slowly opened. The guard on duty shifted uneasily.
âMr. Flynn, youâre back?â
Eric gave a curt nod, his mind elsewhere. âYeah.â
The guard hesitated. âMr. FlynnâIs Miss Pearson all right? Is everythingâ¦?â
Eric froze, his hands tightening around the steering wheel as his foot slammed on the brake.

âWhat do you mean?â His voice dropped dangerously low. âWhat happened to my wife?â
The guard hesitated, clearly regretting his words. âItâs always the same,â he thought. âMr. Flynn calls her his wife. Miss Pearson corrects him every single time. So, are they even married? Or not?â
But something in Ericâs stare made the guard swallow his uncertainty and answer quickly. âYour wife was taken to the hospital last night. I thought you were informed.â
He had assumed Eric already knewâthinking that the moment Hadley was taken to the hospital, he would have been the first to rush there.
Ericâs entire body went rigid. The words hit him like a gut punch. âWhich hospital did they take her to?â
The guard blinked, caught off guard. âUh?â
âI asked youâ which hospital was my wife taken to?â Ericâs voice boomed, raw with urgency, his expression cold as ice.
The guard flinched, scrambling for an answer. âT-the city hospital!â
With a deafening roar, the black car spun into a sharp U-turn, tires skidding violently against the pavement. Like a bullet fired from a gun, Ericâs car tore through the streets. Meanwhile, at the hospitalâ¦
Hadley stirred, her eyelids fluttering open. A dull ache pulsed behind her temples, her body still heavy with exhaustion. âHello, Dr. Duncan? Itâs me.â
Dr. Duncan had prescribed the ovulation-stimulating drug for her, the very medication that had pushed her body to its limits.
