Chapter 740
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 740:
Ericâs face lit up with delight when he heard Hadleyâs request, his voice softening. âSkipping the gathering for us to be together, you mean?â
âYes.â Hadleyâs reply came without a second thought. âIs it possible for you not to go?â
Eric pondered for a moment, then suggested a solution. âIâll send Sebastian to bring you here after you finish work. If youâre with me, Iâll have a good reason to bow out early. Does that work?â
âOkay, Iâll wait for you,â Hadley responded as she walked out with the strawberries. âThen itâs decided.â
After ending the call, a joyful Eric playfully tossed his phone into the air and caught it. His mood was visibly uplifted by Hadleyâs display of affection.
Marshall entered the office, noticed Ericâs cheerful demeanor, and couldnât help but comment wryly, âTone down that grin, will you?â Was Eric trying to rub in his happiness, given Marshallâs single status?
Eric burst into laughter. âMy apologies, really!â
That evening, as Hadleyâs work wrapped up, Sebastian was already waiting outside the dance studio to fetch her as planned. Back at the office, Eric, Marshall, and some business partners were deep in discussion in a small meeting room when Sebastian quietly informed him, âMiss Pearson is now waiting in the lounge.â
âThank you, Sebastian,â Eric acknowledged, then quickly texted Hadley.
âIâve set up everything for youâfoodâs in the fridge, a tablet on the table for passing time, and the TVâs also ready. Make yourself at home for a bit. Iâll join you as soon as I can.â

Hadley sent a swift response. âGot it.â
With that single reply and a blushing emoji, Hadley conveyed her mood. Seeing this, Eric grinned, happiness evident in his eyes.
Once the meeting wrapped up, Marshall threw out an invitation. âHow about dinner on me at Poseidonâs Realm tonight?â
âAppreciate it, Mr. Myers.â
âMr. Myers, thatâs very generous of you!â
Eric simply declined. âIâll have to pass this time.â
Marshall looked puzzled. âDidnât we plan this?â
âApologies.â Already distracted, Eric explained, âMy girlfriendâs waiting in the lounge. Sheâs quite clingy, worried Iâll stay out too late. How can I say no to her?â
Marshall let out an exaggerated sigh, shaking his head. âI canât even look at you right now. Seriously, letting a girl have you completely under her thumb?â
âYou single people just donât get it,â Eric replied smoothly. âOnce you have a girlfriend, youâll understand.â
Marshall scoffed, rolling his eyes. âYeah, sure. Iâll let you know when that day comes. Alright, enough. Go on, get out of here. Iâm not seeing you off.â
The second the door clicked shut behind them, Eric turned on his heel and headed straight back to his office.
In the private lounge inside his office, Hadley was already asleep. Curled up beneath the warm blankets, her breathing was slow and steady, her cheeks tinged with a soft, sleepy flush.
Thenâunable to resistâhe stepped closer and gently brushed his fingers across her cheek. Once. Then again. Hadley stirred, her lips parting in a sleepy mumble. âAre you done?â
