Chapter 743
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 743:
She set it down on the desk in front of her friend, who looked up with a grateful smile. âThanks.â
Hadley gave a small nod. âYouâre welcome.â
Elissa had just returned to work after her hospital stay. Most of her injuries had healed, but the bruises lingering around her eyes hadnât fully faded yet. To avoid stares, whispers, and unwanted questions, she had been keeping to herself, staying out of sight.
Thankfully, she had Hadleyâwho had taken it upon herself to help her adjust. As Elissa looked at what Hadley had brought her, her expression brightened. âTodayâs dishes look good.â
Hadley reached over, unscrewing the cap of a yogurt bottle before placing it beside her. âBlueberry. Your favorite.â
Elissaâs smile softened. âThanks.â
Before Hadley could respond, a sharp voice cut through the airâimpatient, irritated.
âElissa! Elissa!â
That manâs voice.
Elissaâs face drained of color. Her grip tightened around Hadleyâs wrist as she abruptly stood. Her fingers were ice-cold. âItâs Robin. He was here!â
A slow, cold sneer curled on Hadleyâs lips. âYou were lying in a hospital bed covered in injuries, and he never once showed his face. Now, all of a sudden, he decides to come looking for you? What the hell does he want?â
Before she could finish, the door to Elissaâs workspace flew open, slamming violently against the wall.

Both women flinched, their heads snapping toward the sudden intrusion.
Robin stormed in, his expression dark, his movements aggressive. He crossed the room in a flash, reaching for Elissaâs wrist in a brutal grip.
âYou thought I wouldnât find you! Where the hell have you been these past few days?â
Elissa lifted her chin defiantly, her voice sharp despite the tremor in it. âDonât talk to me like that! Where I go and what I do has nothing to do with you!â
âElissa!â
Robinâs face twisted, his rage boiling over in an instant.
âHave you no shame?â His voice was a snarl, loud and venomous. âYouâre a married woman, running around like a trollop! Tell me! Which manâs bed have you been keeping warm?â
What did he just say?
Elissaâs stomach dropped, her pulse roaring in her ears. âRobin⦠is that what you think of me?â
âWell, Iâm not wrong, am I?â Robinâs furious shout thundered through the room, his forehead veined with rage. âYou disgraced me on our wedding night, remember?!â
Elissa froze. She had no defense, no way to make him see the truth.
Tears welled up, slipping down her pale cheeks. âRobin, letâs get a divorce,â she whispered.
The room went still.
For a second, Robin didnât move. âWhat did you just say?â
