Chapter 749
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 749:
As the crowd thinned, Eric wrapped an arm protectively around Hadley. âThat man? Heâs Ferris Scott.â
Hadleyâs eyes widened, and her hand flew to her mouth in shock. âThat was Ferris Scott himself?â
Laughing softly, Eric responded, âYeah, thatâs him. You look like youâve just seen a celebrity.â
âNo way!â Defensively, Hadley nudged him. âItâs just surprising to see him up close for the first time. Iâm just a little starstruck, thatâs all.â
Ferris had established himself as a financial wunderkind, distinguishing himself in the trading world by his teenage years and ascending to the status of a legendary financial tycoon by the age of twenty. The name Ferris Scott had become a byword for achievement and influence.
Eric caught the look of awe on Hadleyâs face and his expression sharpened.
âItâs a shame, really. Ferris will be the last of the Scotts.â
Confused, Hadley responded, âWhat do you mean by that?â
As Ferris made his exit, the spectators began to thin out.
While leading Hadley to the exit, Eric said, âDid you not know? His personal life is a mess.â
Hadley was somewhat aware of the whispers circulating about him. âIs it true that he has multiple partners?â she asked quietly.
Eric confirmed with a sly smirk. âAbsolutely. He has a host of partners and even more children. Regrettably, theyâre all a disappointment.â

At this point in his life, Ferris was advanced in age, yet his offspring showed no promise. They were embroiled in constant infighting, full of schemes and mutual destruction.
As they watched Ferris fade into the distance, Ericâs laughter carried a hint of scorn. âThe Scott dynasty is on a steep decline, mark my words.â
Hadley absorbed the story with a sigh, saying, âItâs just like something out of a TV drama.â
Looking down at her, Eric mused that real life often surpassed any scripted drama in its cruelty.
Arriving at the hospital early the following day, Hadley planned to visit Elissa before going to work.
But to her surprise, she found Elissaâs room vacant, with no trace of her presence.
âNurse!â Hadley rushed to the nurseâs station. âExcuse me, could you tell me where the patient from room V9 has gone?â
âAre you asking about Elissa Holland?â the nurse queried.
âThatâs right!â
With a curious glance, the nurse informed her, saying, âYouâre her friend, and you didnât know? She was discharged.â
âDischarged?!â Hadley exclaimed in disbelief. âHow was that possible?â
âCan you tell me who authorized her discharge?â Hadley asked.
âHer family arranged it,â the nurse replied.
Her family? That puzzled Hadley; she was unaware of any family member who would do that. She had expected Elissa to inform her if her family was taking her home. Something didnât feel right.
