Chapter 776
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 776:
âI will, Mr. Holland!â
âGood, then. Goodbye for now.â
With that, Addy turned, his presence soon swallowed up by the crowd as they moved on.
Hadley stood rooted in place, stunned.
Her mind raced.
Elissa was not with Addy at all.
Eric had lied to her.
The first time she had asked for his help, he had deceived her.
Why? Was there a hidden reason? Or was the answer painfully simpleâhe had never intended to help her in the first place?
To him, her concerns didnât matterâshe, more precisely, didnât matter.
Hadley picked up her phone and dialed Ericâs number.
No answer.
Was he busy, or had he simply not heard it?
She was about to try again when Tessie appeared, slightly out of breath.
âMiss Pearson! There you are. The director needs you for a quick meeting.â
âAlright, Iâm coming.â
Hadley sighed, slipping her phone back into her pocket and heading off.
After the meeting, she returned to the practice room.
The moment she stepped inside, Megan rushed toward her.
âMiss Pearson, youâre back! Perfect timing. I have a question.â
Hadley assumed it was about dance techniques. âGo ahead.â
Megan, however, frowned. âWhereâs Linda? Why isnât she here?â
Taken aback, Hadley hadnât expected that.
She glanced around at the other artists. Though their expressions were carefully controlled, the air was thick with unspoken tensionâsome looked amused, others irritated.
âWellâ¦â
âNah.â
A few chuckles broke the silence, but no one gave a straight answer.
Megan wasnât letting it go. âMiss Pearson, is she caught up with something?â
âI wouldnât know,â Hadley admitted. âIâm here to offer advice on dancing techniques, not to manage the artistsâ schedules.â
âUghâ¦â Someone sighed. âThis isnât the first time. Sheâs been absent a lot lately. Last time, we waited for her for almost an hour, and she never showed.â
âSo, is she coming today or not?â
âHard to say. Well⦠sheâs popular and busy.â
Megan raised an eyebrow. âIf sheâs so busy, maybe she shouldnât be in the center position. Right, Miss Pearson?â
Hadley hesitated. âThatâs not a decision I can make.â
