Chapter 783
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 783:
Once at the dining table, he carefully placed her in a seat.
The food was ready. âGo on, eat.â
Hadley managed only a few bites, clearly lacking appetite. She looked at Eric with evident irritation. âWhat now?â
Eric let out a laugh and tousled her hair playfully. âYouâre glaring as if Iâm some kind of villain.â
Realizing she truly wasnât hungry, Eric decided not to force her further. He removed her plate but slid the bowl of soup closer to her. âAt least finish the soup. Weâre not arguing about this.â
After a momentâs hesitation, Hadley gave in. Reluctantly, she took the spoon and began sipping the soup little by little.
Yet, despite finishing the broth, she left the ribs untouched in the bowl.
Noticing this, Eric narrowed his eyes curiously. âWerenât ribs your favorite?â
Hadley shook her head softly. âNot today. I donât feel hungry at all.â
It wasnât an excuseâshe genuinely had no appetite, her stomach feeling uncomfortably full.
âAlright.â He helplessly reached for her bowl and proceeded to finish off the untouched ribs.
Why did he always insist on finishing what she left behind?
Unable to keep quiet, Hadley said, âStop eating my leftovers.â
Eric glanced up casually, shrugging off her concern. âWhatâs there to worry about? Weâve kissed plentyâthis isnât any different.â He simply continued eating without another thought.

Hadley watched him. He certainly seemed to truly care for her. Yet, deep down, she knew better than to trust that illusion.
Hadley went into work the next afternoon, her morning spent with Joy. After lunch with Joy and gently putting her down for a nap, Hadley quietly slipped out.
Taking her time, she walked leisurely toward the bus stop. Suddenly, her gaze froze.
Stunned, she stared across the street in disbelief. Wasnât that Astrid standing by the opposite bus stop?
Astrid wasnât aloneâshe clung affectionately to a manâs arm, laughter brightening her face.
Hadleyâs eyes widened further as she recognized the man beside Astrid. No, not just recognizedâshe remembered clearly the man with Astrid during the kidnapping incident.
What was his name again?
Hadley remembered Astrid calling him Soren.
Judging from their openly affectionate gestures, there was no doubt they were together romantically. Back during the kidnapping, Hadley had already sensed a suspicious closeness between them. Could it have been true even then?
As Hadley stood lost in thought, Astrid suddenly leaned up, laughing, to kiss Soren on the cheek.
Quickly and instinctively, Hadley grabbed her phone and captured the undeniable evidence.
