Chapter 804
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 804:
Eric stepped out of the restaurantâs private room, craving fresh air and a brief escape from the stifling atmosphere inside.
âEric, wait!â Megan called urgently, hurrying to catch up with him.
He paused and cast a wary glance back at her. âWhy are you following me?â
She frowned at his sharp tone, a playful pout forming despite his chilly demeanor.
âThereâs no need to be so harsh! We practically grew up together, yet the last time, you didnât even recognize me. And you still havenât apologized.â She was clearly referencing the earlier incident involving Linda.
Back then, Eric had genuinely failed to recognize Megan.
But Megan didnât really mindânot that much, at least. She was a confident young woman from a prominent family, accustomed to speaking her mind and going after what she wanted.
Aware that Eric would be attending tonight, sheâd deliberately sought him out.
Now that Eric knew who she was, he had to cut her some slack. After all, the Aston familyâs reputation was not to be overlooked.
As for an apology?
Eric raised an eyebrow, an amused smirk playing on his lips. âAnd just how exactly do you expect me to apologize?â
With a delighted laugh, Megan boldly linked her arm through his.
âEric, I like youâI always have, ever since we were children. I want us to be together!â
Momentarily stunned, Eric stood motionless, silently pondering her sudden declaration.

Many years ago, another girl had stood before Eric with the same radiant smile and earnest eyes, declaring her feelings with similar passion. âEric, I really like you! When I grow up, Iâm going to marry you and spend forever by your side!â Yet now, that same girl had given her heart to someone else.
Feelings were fleeting, Eric realizedânothing in life was truly permanent.
With an indifferent smile, Eric finally responded, âThanks.â
âThanks?â Megan tightened her grip on his arm, refusing to let him evade so easily. âWhy thank me? Just say yes and date me already.â
Eric chuckled softly, gently interrupting her persistence. âSorry, I already have a girlfriend. Looks like youâve missed your chance.â
But Megan merely raised an eyebrow, completely undeterred. âMissed my chance? Nonsense! Iâm sure once you spend time with me, youâll realize you like me more than her.â
Eric studied Megan closely, admitting inwardly that her confident, almost brazen attitude reminded him vividly of a young Hadley, who once told him to his face, âEric, youâre mine! I like you, and one day youâll like me too!â
âHello? Eric?â Megan waved her hand in front of his eyes, snapping him from his reverie with a playful pout. âWhy arenât you answering? What were you daydreaming about?â
âNothing important,â Eric replied smoothly, regaining his composure with an easy smile. âWeâve been standing out here long enough. Letâs head back inside.â
Megan leaned against his arm, hopeful and persistent. âWill you dance with me?â
âI donât dance,â Eric replied lightly.
Her eyes sparkled mischievously. âThatâs okayâIâll teach you!â
