Chapter 810
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 810:
Her gaze was distant, thoughts racing silently behind her eyes. Perhaps, at last, the opportunity sheâd been waiting for had presented itself.
Arriving at the hospital, Hadley stepped out just as Lindaâs car pulled up. The two women exchanged only a brief glance before walking side by side toward the emergency entrance.
âThis way,â Theodore said, quickly leading them inside. But Hadley had already spotted him.
The curtain parted, revealing Eric seated calmly, his left arm elevated, forearm neatly wrapped in clean white bandages. He appeared composed and unharmed beyond the obvious woundâexactly as Theodore had described.
âEric!â
âEric!â
Hadley and Linda called his name simultaneously.
Linda had barely moved forward when Hadley quickly reached out, gently pulling her back with a smirk. âBack offâheâs my boyfriend.â
âEric!â Hadley released Linda, who stood momentarily stunned, as she hurried toward him.
Eric immediately frowned in concern. âHadley, stop! You shouldnât run like thatâitâs not safe for you or the baby.â
But Hadley ignored his warning, closing the distance quickly before throwing herself into his arms, hugging him tightly around his waist.
Eric staggered slightly from the unexpected impact, momentarily stunned by her sudden display of affection.

âWhatâs wrong?â Hadley panicked, instantly lifting her worried gaze to his face, her eyes reddening. âDid I hurt you?â
âNo, noâthatâs not it,â Eric stammered, unusually flustered, his Adamâs apple bobbing as he struggled for words.
After their heated argument that morning, he had assumed reconciliation was far from her thoughts.
Yet here she was, willingly and warmly nestled in his embrace.
Perhaps she still cared after allâmaybe he still held a place in her heart. Eric silently acknowledged the chance before him; Hadley had given him an opening, and heâd be a fool not to take it.
âIâm alright,â he answered softly, sliding his uninjured arm gently around her waist. âItâs just a minor wound on my arm.â
âJust your arm?â Hadley sounded unconvinced, urgently pulling away to inspect him from head to toe. âShow me!â
Eric obliged patiently, spreading his arms and allowing her to circle him anxiously. A faint, amused smile tugged at his lips. âReally, Hadleyâitâs nothing.â After all, he had two capable bodyguards watching over him. When the attack happened, while Theodore was protecting Hadley at the TV station, Xander had been by his side and immediately stepped in, shielding Eric from harm. Though Xander had sustained minor injuries himself and was receiving treatment nearby, Eric was grateful it wasnât worse.
