Chapter 85
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 85:
âIâm just looking out for you. Youâll be hungry until lunch!â
Eric overheard their entire conversation. He thought to himself that if Ernest were here, he wouldnât let Linda go hungry.
He looked over at Hadley, who was still waiting, and called out, âIâll get more for you!â
With that, he hurried after Linda.
âLinda!â
âWhat?â Linda turned around, puzzled. âWhat is it?â
âHere.â Eric handed her the bag. âYou shouldnât skip breakfast. You need to take better care of yourself.â
âThisââ Linda hesitated, reluctant to accept it. âWhat about Hadley?â
âHadley?â Eric shrugged. âThere are other donuts. Iâll find something else for her. She wonât be left hungry.â
âThenââ
âJust take them.â
Eric placed the bag in her hand.
âAlright,â Linda conceded, a smile appearing. âI wonât argue then. Iâm in a hurry, so I must go.â
âOkay.â
As Linda walked away, Eric turned back to Hadley.
âIâll get more. Iâll queue up againââ
âThereâs no need.â Hadley spoke up firmly. âDid you forget? You just bought the last three paczki.â
Ericâs expression darkened, irritation evident in his voice. âThey have other options. Come on! Theyâre all donuts! Youâre just being difficult now.â
Hadley paused momentarily.
She then chuckled quietly to herself.

Eric really had some nerve with his double standards. Linda could be picky about her food, and that was acceptable. But when it came to Hadley, he called her difficult.
Had he forgotten that those donuts he just gave Linda were meant to be Hadleyâs thank-you gift for staying up with Nyla?
As Ericâs words left his mouth, he sensed his own mistake, discomfort flickering in his eyes.
Yet, displaying vulnerability was not in Ericâs nature, especially not in front of Hadley.
He was committed to his stance once he declared it.
Ericâs tone was resolute, bordering on defiant. âSo, are you going to eat or not?â
Hadley perceived his growing impatience. She sighed internally, preferring to avoid any conflict.
She responded affirmatively, âYes, Iâd like to eat.â
Ericâs expression relaxed into a faint smirk as he softened his approach. âWhat flavor would you like?â
âAnything is fine.â
Hadley had only wished for paczki, but they were sold out, and now sheâd just have to take whatever Eric had chosen for herâjust like how things used to be between them.
