Chapter 93
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 93:
Marshall expressed genuine surprise before warmly complimenting her. âYouâve become so much prettier. I almost didnât recognize you.â
âThanks, youâre too kind.â
âAre you here to see Nyla?â
âYes.â
âWonderful, I am as well. Letâs enter together.â
âCertainly.â
With a courteous gesture, Marshall opened the door, motioning for Hadley to proceed. âLadies first, please.â
âThank you.â
âYouâre welcome.â
Inside, a nurse was attending to Nylaâs morning needs. Marshall indicated the sofa. âPlease take a seat.â
âOkay.â Hadley seated herself.
âWould you care for something to drink?â
Before Hadley could respond, Marshall had already risen and was heading to the kitchen. He returned with two cups of coffee and placed one in front of her. âIs this alright?â
âItâs fine, thank you.â
Hadley, feeling compelled, took the cup.
Marshall encouraged her with a smile. âGo ahead, take a sip.â
âAlrightâ¦â
Upon tasting it, Hadley found it bitter and furrowed her brow.
âItâs plain black coffee. Not to your liking? Shall I add some milk or sugar?â

âThereâs no need to bother!â
âItâs no bother at all.â
Marshall went to the kitchen and soon returned with milk, adding it to her cup.
âIs this sufficient?â
âThatâs enoughâ¦â
âOh dear, thatâs too much!â
Marshall feigned a spill, causing Hadley to startle. He then chuckled.
âIâm just messing with you.â
Hadley, realizing the jest, gave him a look of mock distress. âYou really frightened me!â
âDo you scare that easily?â
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and Eric entered. He found Hadley and Marshall sharing a moment of laughter on the sofa.
He stopped sharply.
His attention was drawn to Hadleyâs face, slightly uplifted, her lips curved in a gentle, warm smile.
He recalled never seeing such a smile directed at him before.
Always, she had been more critical and questioning towards him. Yet here she was, smiling so freelyâbut for another man.
