Chapter 98
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 98:
It was Monday today.
Mondays were Hadleyâs days off, as Galant typically saw less business. With some free time available, Hadley chose to visit Nyla.
Nylaâs health was improving significantly; she was fully conscious and gradually regaining strength.
Together with a caregiver, Hadley assisted Nyla out of bed and wheeled her into the garden to soak up some sunlight.
âHadley,â Nyla exhaled deeply, grasping Hadleyâs hand. âI will always remember your kindness, dear.â
âI did what I felt was necessary for you,â Hadley responded, offering a soft smile as she shook her head gently.
Nyla squeezed her hand. âAnd Iâll never forget it.â
Tears welled up in Nylaâs eyes, her voice breaking. âMy biggest regret is how I left you on your own these past yearsâ¦â
âNyla,â Hadley quickly pulled out a tissue to dab at the older womanâs tears. âThatâs behind us now. Iâm doing well, arenât I?â
âOf course,â Nyla affirmed with a reassuring smile. âYou will always be part of my family, as Ericâs wife.â
Hadleyâs face showed a moment of uncertainty.
She then decided to leave it to Eric to break the news of their divorce to Nyla, however he saw fit.
She knelt to gently massage Nylaâs calf. âI donât have work today. Iâll stay with you tonight, is that alright?â
âThat would be wonderful.â
Just then, the caregiver approached. âMrs. Flynn, you have a call,â she said, offering Nyla the phone.
âThank you.â

Nyla accepted it and noticed Eric was on the line.
âGrandma.â
âWhatâs happening?â Nyla asked. âArenât you supposed to be at Linacre Lake now? Donât worry about checking in if youâre busy.â
âThatâs not why Iâm calling this time, Grandma,â Eric responded, his voice light with amusement.
He continued, slightly amused, âIâm actually calling to see if you could have someone look for a manila envelope. I may have left it there.â
Eric had been spending nights at the sanatorium to be close to Nyla, often bringing work with him, which explained why he thought he might have left it there.
Nylaâs face took on a grave expression.
âDo you need it immediately?â
âYes, itâs crucial for a meeting tonight. Could you please look for it?â
âCertainly.â
Having been a professional herself, Nyla understood the importance of such requests. She set the phone aside and turned to Hadley.
âHadley, would you mind checking inside my room for a manila envelope?â
