The unbelievable incident from earlier filled Austin’s mind.

All the other things, including the experiment's success, could not divert his attention.

Thompson could tell that something was off with him as well.

When he thought about how Austin had always looked down on Lily, he thought it was because Austin felt dissatisfied and unconvinced upon learning that Lily’s experiment had succeeded.

Hence, he started, "Austin, you’ve recently stayed for days in the lab and worked hard for the experiment.

Look at the dark circles under your eyes! You should go home and rest today.

You can only continue with the experiment in a better state!"

"I’m fine, Professor Thompson.I’ve had enough rest.I..."

Before Austin could finish, Thompson interjected, "Hey, don’t take this lightly just because you’re still young.Work is a never- ending process.Since this one has succeeded, I’m sure it’ll be a smooth process for us in the coming days! "Don’t be too hard on yourself, and don’t worry too much.We still have Lily here!"

Thompson said as he happily glanced at Lily, "Go home and rest.You’ll need patience regarding these things.It won't be too late to continue after you're feeling better!"

Austin felt suffocated.He could tell that Thompson did not need him here anymore, even though his words made him appear concerned.

Lily was back and succeeded in the experiment when Austin could not do so after struggling for the past few days.

He felt that Thompson probably found him useless now.

With that thought in mind, the fury in his heart grew.

Scoffing, Austin could not help himself but mock, "Fine! It seems you have someone better now and no longer need my help.If that's the case, I’ll go back and take a good rest."

With that, he turned around to leave, leaving Thompson in his spot.The latter wanted to offer some comfort but could not do so in time.

"Austin! Hey..."

Thompson waved to try and stop the young man.

Since he could not do anything, he just gave up on it.He turned and smiled at Lily as he said helplessly, "Young people these days are too impatient! Fortunately, I was right about you.You're gifted.From what I see, you’re not only talented in fragrances, but you’ll be able to achieve great success in the medicinal herbs field if you were to learn it too!"

"It’s too kind of you to say that, Professor Thompson."

Lily said lightly, "Medicinal herb is a tough discipline, and it won’t be easy to master it."

She had been learning about it from Dominic for so many years, and she was sure that Dominic would not be confident enough to say that he had mastered everything in the field.

There would always be newer discoveries, after all.

Thompson agreed with her words very much.

"You’re right.I’m old now, and I’ve spent most of my life learning about medicinal herbs.Even so, I wouldn’t dare to say I’m an expert in this.I can’t compare to Mr.Dominic on this, but I must say that he’s not great at choosing people.

"Everyone is saying that Austin is Mr.Dominic’s secret apprentice and how talented and gifted Austin is, but Austin seems pretty ordinary to me! Mr.Dominic's choice of apprentices—no, his choice of secret apprentices is terrible!"
