Chapter 1376
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
"How do you know Lily is not treating you as an experimentation tool herself?"
Austin smiled meaningfully and took out a pen and a piece of paper.
Then he lowered his head to write as he spoke casually, "I donât mind you knowing that she and I are conducting research at the same lab.
"She might know a little bit about alternative medicine and medicinal herbs.Of course, she is mainly a perfumer and might have obtained some knowledge of alternative medicine through self-learning."
He paused and looked up at Anastasia.
"Still, you guys should understand that those who self-learn lack practical experience.Whenever thereâs a chance, theyâd jump at it."
Enlightened by him, Maria looked at Anastasia and said, "Tasia, sheâs using you as a guinea pig!"
Anastasia could hardly speak for a moment.
What Austin said had somehow unsettled her.She wanted to tell herself that what he said was false and that Lily would never treat her as a guinea pig.
âIf that is the case, how come Lily always says sheâs not trying to help me slim down and doesnât know how to cure people, even though sheâs helping me adjust my diet plan? If she had truly learned about herbal medicine, even by teaching herself, she couldâve just told me, couldnât she?â "I know you're a good friend to her, and you might not believe me.You can ask her to see if what I said is true."
Putting his pen into his pocket, he let out a half-smile and did not seem to worry about being proved wrong.
"Hereâs the prescription. You decide whether to try it or not.Itâs your choice if you donât want to believe me.
"As you said, itâs your body and health. If you donât wish to become my tool of experimentation, why should you become someone elseâs?" Austin got up.
"Iâve said all I have to say.Itâs up to you to decide what to do."
He headed toward the door.
Taken aback, Maria hurriedly chased after him.
"Mr.Fike, we believe you! Of course, we believe you! What should we do next?"
"If sheâs willing to take medicine according to the prescription, I'll come back ten days later to take her pulse." He looked back and saw Anastasia sitting there in a daze with her back to him.
She was overwhelmed by what he said.
"Yes, weâll surely follow your instructions,"
Maria quickly answered, and she attentively saw him off.
Sitting on the sofa, Anastasia kept thinking about what Austin said âthat Lily had taught herself herbal medicine and that, lacking practical experience, she would jump at any opportunity to experiment on anyone.
Lily was double-checking a recipe.
She was not an expert in cooking, but she had learned to read recipes for Anastasia.
It was easy to look for weight-loss- friendly food, and all Lily needed to do was let the cooks in her house choose the right ingredients and prepare the meals according to these recipes.
However, considering Anastasiaâs preference and what she did not like to eat, Lily always picked food that was not only suitable but would also please her.
However, what mattered most was not the recipes or the menu.
The challenging part was tackling the complex toxicity that Anastasia had in her.
âYes, sheâs poisoned!â At first, Lily was doubtful as the symptoms were mild.
She had unintentionally learned about it when she took Anastasiaâs pulse.
If Lilyâs guess was correct, the poisoning had something to do with the plants in Anastasiaâs house.
However, what mattered most was not the recipes or the menu.
