Chapter 1574
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
âThe police had just investigated the research institute.
Although they did not discover anything, we attracted their attention.
âBesides, weâre in Hyderland and Kingsland. What kind of tricks can we pull under their watchful eyes?
Itâs already not easy to secure this shabby basement in the equally shabby hospital. This is the only place where others wouldnât discover us."
"What's so difficult about it? I think youâre just finding excuses!"
The man roared without much concern. He only knew that staying in a place like this would smother and bore him to death.
"If you canât find a more suitable place for us to move to, then your son..." As he deliberated, a malicious grin formed on his lips.
Mike was alarmed.
"This has nothing to do with my son! Even if you kill him, I wonât be able to do things beyond me.Iâm already trying my best to think of solutions.Furthermore, the experiment has reached its final stage.
"This place is the most suitable, as weâre in a hospital. It wouldn't be worth it if the experiment failed because we relocated to a location that wasn't ideal."
He talked fast, worried that the man would genuinely harm his son.He owed the child a lot and did not wish for him to suffer more harm.
Seeing his anxious look, the man was satisfied.
He wanted Mike to be distraught so that he would know that doing an excellent job for him would be the best way out.
"Fine, I wonât put you on the spot!"
Waving, he said casually, "I know you couldnât, so Iâve already asked someone else to do it.We can soon move to a spacious and suitable place to do our experiment, so get ready. For the time being, focus on gathering empirical data and avoiding distractions."
Mike was taken aback.
"Youâve found a new place? Where is it?"
"You donât have to worry about that."
The man apparently did not want to tell him.
Mike did not give up.
"You can choose not to tell me, but I've got to remind you that this is Kingsland, and we canât do whatever we want here.Weâre not overseas. We would have no place to hide if others truly discovered us."
"Enough! I know a thing or two about the laws of Hyderland, so I donât need your reminder.I might also tell you that we would have a safe place to conduct our experiment, and the army of Hyderland would also offer us protection.Do you believe me?"
He was pleased with himself and looked confident.Mike was bewildered.
Seeing his puzzled look, the man was even more satisfied. He waved him off and said, "You may leave."
Having left the room, Mike returned to the first floor and walked out of the hospital building.
After he got into the car, he leaned against the back of the seat and let out a sigh of relief as he gazed ahead.
"You still havenât found him?"
"No, thereâs still no news of your son," the chauffeur in front answered in a low voice.
"What about Lily?"
"we havenât found her yet.We tracked the signal to a nearby town, but the signal was flashing fast, and there was an anti-tracking device, so the GPS positioning failed..."
The manâs voice grew softer and softer, perhaps thinking that they had failed the task.
"A town?"
Narrowing his eyes, Mike was puzzled.
"What was she doing there?"
"we're not sure. She left the day before yesterday and didnât take anyone with her."
They only managed to find out so much.
"Perhaps sheâs taking a leisure trip?"
âWhat could a woman be doing in a small town by not bringing her bodyguards and child along? I guess itâs just a leisure trip of a sort." Mike shook his head.
"No, thatâs not her style."
âAn ordinary woman might go on a leisure trip when sheâs having a bad mood, but not Lily! If sheâs alone, then something is up.She mustâve gone to the town to look for something or someone.I wonder who she is looking for?â
