Chapter 1577
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
Maria felt even more pleased when Rhea obliged her.
"Look! I got the maids to make goat cheese salad, stuffed tomatoes, and roasted fish with wild mushrooms. You loved them the most when you were little."
Rheaâs expression changed when her mother mentioned her childhood.
Maria noticed it and quickly said, "I wonder if theyâre still your favorites. If you donât want to eat them, tell me what you would like to eat, and I'll get them to prepare it!"
"Thereâs no need.Food is just there to make us full."
Rhea sat at the table, picked up the spoon and fork, and looked disinterested.
Mariaâs spirit dampened. She was slightly embarrassed and glanced at her husband.
Fabian only frowned back.
âWhy did you bring up her childhood? You knew Rhea hated it the most!â When the couple returned from the Rollinsâ house the other day, they talked all night as they had no idea that Rhea hated her childhood that much.
They always thought she was only jealous of Anastasia back then, and it was not a big deal.
âShe didnât know we did everything just for her.
If we didnât try to please Anastasia, how were we supposed to curry favors with Cameron? If we didnât suck up to Cameron, how could we have good resources to do business? How could we afford to give Ree a good and luxurious life?â However, Rhea resented what happened during her childhood.
For example, when there was only a piece of chocolate cake, they would give it to Anastasia instead of her.
Whenever they quarreled, they would always scold her instead of their niece.
There were also incidents involving dresses, shoes, bags, and dolls that Maria could not remember.
âWe always thought these were trivial, but Ree remembered them. She resented them so much that she used me to deliver herbs with different medicinal properties to the house. She wanted Tasiaâs body to slowly absorb these herbs so they would clash within her and cause chronic poisoning."
When they talked about it, Maria shuddered, thinking she was lucky not to have been poisoned as she frequented the house.
They were also surprised that Rhea could secretly poison someone by using plants.
They knew Rhea studied medicine and did research.
They thought it would be good if Rhea could return and become a doctor but did not expect her to be an expert on poisons.
The couple exchanged looks a few times.
Rhea pretended she did not see it and casually ate her meal.
Ultimately, it was Fabian who spoke.
"Ree, I heard your lab has moved but has yet to find somewhere permanent. Why donât you stop going?"
"Huh?"
Rhea stopped moving her fork and raised her brow at him.
"Look Your lab is dangerous, and someone has gone missing.Didnât a professor die before this too?
Your mom and I feel it doesnât bode well, and you should stop going there.According to your uncle, the vaccine project will reopen for tender, and he will give the contract to me.Iâll surely be busy then, and you can help _Y He was beaming with joy as if he was about to be super rich soon. However, Rhea spat out a fish bone and interrupted him coldly, "Have you forgotten how you came by the project?"
Fabian was stumped.
"If I didnât offer the labâs secret, do you think Cameron would promise to give you the contract? Why else would he take so much effort to find excuses to void the tender eventâs result? Me leaving the lab?"
She curled her lips and chuckled.
"Are you sure you want me to leave? Can you bear the consequences?"
