However, Alexander showed no joy and looked a bit solemn.

"I received news about him about half a month ago, but I didn’t tell you because you were busy,"

Alexander explained casually.

"He’s safe now and still alive."

"That’s great news!"

Then, heaving a sigh of relief, she seemed to remember something and fished out her phone to make a call.

"What are you doing?" Alexander asked while holding her hand.

Lily moved her phone-holding hand away and said, "I'm calling Olivia to tell her the good news! Oh, did your men tell her?"

‘I bet she’ll be thrilled to discover that Edward is still alive and safel’ Holding her hands with both hands, Alexander stopped her from making the call and said, "You don’t have to tell her.She knows about it."

It was at this moment that Lily sensed that he was acting strangely.He is not thrilled or excited to share the news with her, but rather unhappy.Why?’

"Did something happen?" she asked hesitantly.

"Our men tried to collect him but were kicked out of the house.I then tried to call and message him, but I found..."

After a pause, Alexander looked into her eyes.

"He has blocked me."

"Blocked you?"

Lily was astonished.

‘Edward would never do such a thing, let alone to Alex! Since I knew Alexander, Edward has been the most loyal person I've ever met, and he would lay down his life for my husband.

‘If Edward hadn't risked his life to protect him, Alexander wouldn't have returned in one piece.But now he has blocked Alexander and refused to return to the company? ‘Something is not right indeed! If he had gotten back safely, the first thing he'd do is to return to Alexander’s side.How could he not have done so after so long and even kick out those coming to pick him up?’

"But...why?" Lily said, utterly bewildered.

Not knowing why either, Alexander shook his head.

"I’m afraid he has to tell me in person."

Catching on to his point, Lily asked, "You’re going to meet him?"

Alexander looked at her and nodded.

"Now?" Lily asked thoughtfully.

"We should be able to make it in time."

Then, checking his watch, he said, "Let’s go together."
