Chapter 193
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
Nothing was set in stone, after all, and one must be smart enough to think outside the box and find other ways to deal with life.
âI should stop playing defensively and strike back whenever someone provokes me. Itâs about time I retaliate and show those two Iâm not someone to be trifled withi.â
When Alexander arrived home, the sight of Lily lying on lier stomach on the couch welcomed him. Her laptop was in front of her as her fingers gracefully typed away on her keyboard. Lily crossed her calves mid-air while focusing all her attention on the screen. It was rare to see Lily working on her laptop at home in such a position. Alexander put down his things and changed into liis house slippers before peeking over to see what Lily was doing She had several tabs on her screen, registering for a troll account on a certain website.
âWhatâs up?â Alexander went to pour luimself a glass of water and brought one for Lily as well.
Lily adjusted her posture and sat cross-legged with her laptop on her thighs. She reached for the glass and took a sip, but hier gaze remained fixed on the screen. âSomeone wants to play, so I have no choice but to play along.â Considering Lilyâs expression and tone, Alexander knew someone had made her unhappy. âWho has such power to anger my dear Lily?â Alexander said as he unbuttoned the two top buttons of his dress shirt, allowing himself to relax after a tense day at work. In the past, he felt the same regardless if he returned home or stayed out the entire night. This house was just a place for him to sleep, after all. However, since they married, he had expectations of building a home with Lily. He looked forward to returning home to see her, hear her voice, or talk to her about all sorts of things that affected their emotions during the day. âShe looks confident, so I guess she wonât need my help âWho else would it be other than that j*rk?â Lily said without looking up. After putting down her glass, she continued typing on her keyboard.
That made Alexander raise his brow before sitting next to her. He noticed she had logged into her troll account and posted the perfume formulas. He squinted and thought, âThose are indeed the perfume formulas. Sheâs leaking business secrets.
âAre those the perfume formulas you created back in MN Inc.?â Alexander instantly figured out what Lily was doing âYouâre tight. Nate started this. I didnât want to do this initially, but I had no choice since they kept pushing us into dead ends.â Lily pressed enter on her keyboard and finally heaved a sigli of relief. Then she placed her laptop next to her as if she had completed her task.
âWhat if he sues you? Have you thought about that?â âItâs not like Nate hadnât done that before,â Lily calmly continued, âThe formulas belong to me, and this time, someone âhackedâ into my email to leak some of the things they found. What would that have to do with me since MN Inc. had announced to the world that Melanie had created those formulas?
âTo the netizens, I was just someone who did administrative work, and they would think I had no way to access the companyâs business secrets. Also, I leaked more than one formula.â
Alexander pondered before saying, âWhat if they say you stole the formulas when you were still an MN Inc, employee?â One must always plau carefully and consider die opponentâs every move. Then one could predict and counter the opponentâs retallation, pushing them into a dead end and leaving them to Way to salv.ge the situation.
âWould they have proof?â Lily sliruered indifferently. âNate will need evidence if he wants to sue me I hadnât signed any contracts since I started working there. He loves using contracts to threaten me Bring it on.
âIâm not even their employee, so how could I access their business secrets? If I could do that so easily, itâll prove how bad their security is, and they should shut down their business.â
Lily was right; everything needed evidence in the court of law. Nathaniel would not have withdrawn the previous lawsuit if he were confident enough.
