Chapter 2006
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
Mike felt a sharp object pressing against his waist. Although he could not see it, he knew it was unpleasant.
Mike hesitated momentarily and cleared his throat. Then he answered the call and put it on speakerphone without a second thought, âHello, whatâs the matter? Is there any news from Lily? Did she find the person? Did she locate the organization? Has she rescued my son?â
A series of questions followed, leaving no time for Alexander to catch his breath. There was a moment of silence from the other end of the phone.
âAre you going to say anything?â Mikeâs voice sounded irritable.
Rhea shot him a warning look, and her grip on him tightened slightly. Mike felt the sharp object, seemingly piercing through his clothes. He instinctively tried to move away, but she moved faster and pressed him down firmly.
Finally, Alexander spoke, âWhere were you just now?â
That one question instantly made the atmosphere in the car extremely tense.
Mike looked at Rhea. He noticed her scrutinizing gaze on him while he looked innocent. Mike was trying to convey with his eyes that he had been with her this whole time and had no chance to update Alexander about anything.
Rhea squinted, signaling Mike to answer.
After some thought, Mike said, âI was out looking for clues. Whatâs the matter?â
âDid you find anything?â Alexander asked again.
âOf course not! If I had found something, would I still need to ask you? All your connections and subordinates are just freeloading, arenât they? They didnât provide even a single piece of information!
âI thought you were formidable in Hyderland, but it doesnât seem like it. The government is more capable if you ask me. Canât any of your government friends do anything?â Mike mocked.
Alexander coldly replied, âI donât need you to teach me how to do things!
âDo you think I want to teach you anything? If it werenât for my connections being mostly overseas, do you think I would need to rely on you?!â
Mike snorted and continued, âAlexander, you should know our relationship is merely for business. If you canât find the organizationâs whereabouts, Lilyâs corpse wonât be the only one youâll be collecting!â
After finishing his words, he pressed the end call button. Mike looked at Rhea and asked, âAre you happy now?â
Rhea said nothing and looked at him profoundly. After a while, she smiled coldly and said, âYouâre sending him a message.â
Mike appeared innocent. âWhat message? I didnât say anything! You heard every word I said; how could I tell him anything?!â
âYou were hinting at him to find his government friends and Cameron Rollins!â Rhea said coldly, each word enunciated clearly.
Mike was stunned and feigned ignorance. He patted himself and said, âI didnât think that far! I just wanted him to use his connections to find the organizationâs whereabouts quicker. Donât you want to know as well? How did that turn into me sending him a coded message? Iâve never feltâ¦so wronged!â
He appeared frustrated and shocked, as if he had suffered a great injustice.
âWhatever coded message you want to think Iâve said, thatâs up to you!â Mike sighed.
âForget it. No one can find my son anyway. I have nothing left to live for. Since you donât trust me that much, just kill me!â
After saying this, he leaned back to show he was at her mercy.
