Chapter 2007
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
Rhea watched Mikeâs expression and maintained her posture without moving. After a while, she slowly withdrew her hand as if she had already believed him.
However, Mike remained motionless, leaning against the wall desolately. âJust kill me. Kill me, and Iâll be relieved!â
âWhat are you talking about?â Rhea said coldly. âYou donât want to save your son anymore? Do you honestly think heâs already dead?â
âWhether heâs dead or not, what difference does it make? Can you help me save him? Alexander couldnât do it, so how can you?â Mike turned to look at her and noticed the long needle she was holding.
The needle was no ordinary sewing needle or a regular hospital needle. It was longer than usual.
âIf thatâs what Rhea pressed against me earlier, itâs safe to assume it can pierce my clothes and penetrate my internal organs.â
With that thought, Mike broke out in a cold sweat.
Rhea remained nonchalant and glanced at him, saying, âHow do you know I canât?â
âHeh, stop bragging. You donât even know where the organization is, so how can you expect to find my son? If Alexander couldnât do it, how could you?â Mike mocked her.
Facing his mockery, Rhea remained unbothered and calmly said, âEver heard of âpractice makes perfect?â Besides, not knowing the organizationâs location doesnât mean I donât know how to save your son. It was the bossâs idea to do what he did to your son.â
âWhat are you saying?â Mike instantly became alert, sitting up and staring at her.
He had always believed the âbossâ was an executor, and the organization decided everything based on their intentions. However, Rhea claimed it was solely the âbossâsâ idea to kidnap Mikeâs son.
âWerenât you the one who wanted to die? Werenât you just asking me to kill you?â This time, it was Rhea who taunted him.
Mike did not mind it and looked at Rhea earnestly. âI donât care if you kill or tear me apart as long as you can help me save my son!â
âWhy would I want to tear you apart? Iâm not experimenting,â Rhea scoffed, casually retracting her needle. She continued, âLet me tell you something. The situation with your son was the bossâs idea. He kidnapped your son to threaten you into investing. The organization doesnât lack money, but limited funds are available for investment. Alsoâ¦
âAlso, what?!â Mike wanted to hear Rheaâs words, whether true or false. After all, he could only discern the truth after listening. However, he would remain in the dark if she did not continue.
Rhea smiled, then said, âAlso, your son doesnât hold much value to the organization now.â
âWhat do you mean?â Mike had a bad feeling about her vague explanation.
âYou should know value is the most important thing for the organization. Ultimately, what purpose would we serve once we lose our value? Do you know the consequences if you and I lose our value?â Rhea turned and smirked at Mike.
Mike furrowed his brow, clenched his fists, and said, âAbandonment. Treat us like discarded pawns.â
Rhea burst into laughter after hearing his words. âDo you honestly think thatâs whatâll happen? Youâre so naive! Do you think the organization is that merciful? You and I know so many secrets lie within the organization.
âIf they think weâre useless, do you genuinely believe they would abandon us and offer us a way out?â
She laughed as if Mike had said something funny.
Goosebumps crept up Mikeâs back as he tightened his grip on his fist. âAre you saying theyâll off us?â
