Chapter 2009
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
âWhy not?â Rhea replied dismissively, âHave you ever considered that we donât know much about the organization? We think itâs powerful and mysterious because weâve never had contact with the top people.
âWe donât know the puppeteer behind the organization or the real mastermind. Indeed, the organization can do many things we canât and has enough financial resources to support its experiments.
âStill, does that automatically make it invincible?â Her rhetorical question puzzled Mike.
He blinked at her and asked, âWhat do you mean?â
âI mean, do you genuinely think the organization is as formidable as we imagine?â Rhea smiled and leaned back, looking ahead. âRegardless of how the organization is, it depends on our conjectures and guesses.
âPerhaps itâs not as powerful as we think, and maybe we can take it down before replacing it. People always fear the unknown and are afraid of things they donât understand. So, weâve always obediently followed the organizationâs orders.
She shrugged and casually played with her fingers. âJust like our âboss.ââ
âThat insignificant little plaything manipulated us for so long because we believed he was powerful. We were wary of him, but taking him down wasnât difficult.â
Rhea shook her head lightly and expressed her thoughts with emotion, âMaybe theyâre not as strong as we think.â
Then she turned and looked at Mike, her eyes full of confidence and disdain.
Mike stayed silent. He had never considered the possibility of challenging the organization. To be precise, he had considered it before and even tried.
However, he knew he could not contend with the organization after exhausting all his efforts, using all his connections, and spending immense wealth, only to fail in finding his sonâs whereabouts.
At least, it would be challenging for him to do it alone. Now that Rhea had mentioned such things, it initially sounded like sophistry, but upon closer consideration, it seemed to hold some truth.
None had ever seen the organizationâs true leader. They had always dealt with the âbossâ and had Rick, keeping them passive. Once the organization abandoned them, they would resemble headless chickens.
âSo, do you dare to gamble?â Rhea asked again. She smiled faintly and silently watched Mike. She extended an invitation that could lead to death.
Mike fell silent, furrowing his brow as he pondered seriously. After a few seconds, he looked at her and said, âI think what youâre saying has some merit.â
With just that sentence, Rhea burst into laughter. She knew Mike was wavering. Ultimately, she managed to sway him with her words.
With all the chips in her hands and Mikeâs financial resources, she believed she could create a remarkable, earth-shattering enterprise without relying on the organization.
âR10 is nothing compared to what Iâve accomplished. Iâm confident my creations will be ten timesâ
even a hundred times more ground-breaking than R10.â
