Alexander knew it must have been a challenge.

However, Edward could not even fulfill that. Instead, he ended up running around with Alexander.

“Sir, this way.” Edward led the way. He did not waste any time since time waited for no one. Since he was familiar with the route, the duo quickly found the “boss’s” office. The previously heavily guarded place was now easy to access.

When the duo exited the elevator and saw no guards, Edward stopped.

“What is it?” Alexander knew he must have discovered something.

After some hesitation, Edward said, “I think there’s nothing here.”

Alexander understood what he meant. There would be guards if someone were here, making it difficult for the duo to enter. Otherwise, the guards could have easily relocated Cameron. After all, Rhea was cunning and would do such a thing.

“Let’s look around since we’re already here,” Alexander said after some thought.

Edward agreed and walked straight into the office, which was in disarray with everything scattered around. The spacious office looked like a tornado had hit it, making it challenging to move around.

Moreover, the door to the secret room was open, visible at a glance.

Edward looked inside and said, “It’s empty.”

Alexander saw it too. Not only was it empty, but it was also filthy. Upon entering, a foul smell permeated the air. He immediately recalled Mike’s words and warned Edward, “There might be viral residue here.

Be careful.”

Startled, Edward became more cautious. He carefully entered, taking every step with caution.

The secret room was not complicated, with no corners for anyone to hide. As for the office, it looked like someone had rummaged through everything. The files and books on the bookshelves were scattered everywhere, with apparent signs of being flipped through.

Alexander casually glanced around and said, “Someone has been through here.”

“Rhea?” Edward suggested.

Alexander shook his head and denied it. “Probably not. Look, it seems like someone was searching for something.”

“Was it the organization’s people?”

“It’s possible.”

However, they could only speculate because they lacked evidence. Considering how ransacked the place was, someone had likely taken anything important.

“It seems Secretary Rollins isn’t here either.” Edward kicked a book on the floor in disappointment.

They took a significant risk getting there and ended up with nothing. It felt like their trip was a waste of time and effort.

“I didn’t expect whoever it was to pry open the safe too.” Edward sighed as he glanced at the safe lying on its side in the corner.
