Chapter 2170
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
Rhea knew what had happened to her father but did not care about him. Although Cameron knew she was ruthless, he did not expect her to treat her parents like nothing.
âArenât you worried about him?â he could not help but ask with a frown.
Rhea sneered, âI canât even save myself. Besides, heâs too dumb to do business in a dog-eat-dog world. He should thank me for helping him sustain his business for so long.â
Her words shocked Cameron and Alexander.
Rhea noticed it and sat upright before saying, âI might sound harsh, but Iâm speaking the truth. If you feel sorry for my dad, why donât you just let him go? Would it make a difference if I pleaded on his behalf?â
âHeâs only in trouble because of you,â Cameron murmured.
Rhea laughed. âWhat a joke! He would have gotten arrested long ago if it werenât for me. As you know, heâs done many stupid things over the years. It was just a matter of time before he ended up in jail, right?
âYou should blame the timing instead. If we couldâve pulled it off sooner, maybe my dad could enjoy a comfortable life with my help.â
She shook her head and sighed.
âI donât regret what I did. Iâm just sorry things didnât happen fast enough.â
Cameron knew what she meant, asking, âBy âpulling it off,â you mean putting your tainted vaccines into the market and harming more people, donât you?â
He clenched his fists as he spoke. When he read the investigation report, he was shocked and furious by what they discovered in the research center.
Rhea retorted, âDonât you think there are too many useless people in the world? Keeping those people around is just a waste of resources. We should reserve valuable resources for useful people, shouldnât we?â
Cameron was in disbelief as he looked at her intensely. âWhat the hell did you learn when you studied abroad? What did the organization do to you?â
âWhat did they do?â Rhea slowly got to her feet and smiled at Cameron. âThey discovered my talent and knew I was different from you guys. They gave me the best learning opportunities by exposing me to cutting-edge medicine and technology.
âThey introduced me to a whole new world! Thanks to them, I realized I didnât have to live under anyoneâs shadow, and it didnât matter if my parents neglected me. I could change the fate of most of the people in this world if I wanted to.
âThe organization gave me confidence and opportunities. It was I who failed to utilize them fully. I donât think Iâve failed yet.â She slowly sat back down, no longer having much to say.
As Cameron sighed and turned around, Alexander asked, âThe virus you took is about to take effect, isnât it?â
Rhea looked disturbed hearing his seemingly casual question. Although she remained silent, Alexander knew the answer. âIf you must know, weâve rejected your offer. I wonât use you to trade for Lily.â
âWhy?!â Rhea exclaimed. âDonât you care about her anymore?! Men are heartless! I know you can always get a new wife, but when the experiment succeeds, youâll realize how foolish you were!â
Unfazed by her mockery, Alexander gazed at her. âWell, your experiment wonât work. Also, I wonât do it becauseâ¦youâre just not worthy enough.â
