Chapter 2177
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
Lilyâs words terrified Fred, causing him to palm his stomach. âYouâre just trying to scare me!â
âYouâll soon find out whether or not Iâm telling the truth,â Lily smiled and returned to sit back down while looking at him, âSo? Do you want to make the deal? Iâm tired and need my rest.â
Fred glared at her, wondering if he should trust his words. Still, he could not tell if she was telling the truth. He initially thought she was bluffing about the poison, but the physician he visited proved him wrong.
Fred did not know how much he could trust her this time. He slowly clutched his stomach when the pain returned. Although he looked calm, sweat dripped from his forehead.
âShould I take the risk?â
After a momentary hesitation, he said, âFine, Iâll give your children to your husband and show you the live feed. However, you must immediately give me the antidote afterward!â
Lily nodded. âDeal!â
â¦
Alexander was at a loss when he suddenly received an anonymous letter. The letter told him to wait under the sixth maple tree on Maplewood Street after dark tonight. He read on and saw that someone was supposed to pass him his âkids.â
âKids?â
Thinking the sender had meant to write âkid,â Alexander was alarmed. He suspected someone had kidnapped Galen, so he made a call. He was relieved to find out Galen was playing with Dominic.
Still, he could not figure out whom the letter was referring to.
Mike asked, âKids? Is the letter referring to your twins?â
Alexander caught on but felt it was unlikely. âLily and the twins are with them. Why would they do that?
Did Lily write this letter?â
He thought about it and felt it did not seem possible.
âIf it is her, she could have just brought them home. Why would she make such an arrangement?â
âPerhaps someone rescued them and wants to deliver them to you?â Mike took another guess.
âWe know where they are. Since we failed to find them twice, itâs unlikely anyone else could rescue the twins.â Alexander shook his head.
âWell, why donât we go tonight to find out?â Austin thought this was the simplest solution.
âNot so fast!â Alexander raised a hand and said, âItâll be great if they bring the twins over. Hell, I donât even care if itâs a prank. However, what if itâs a trap?â
The others fell silent.
âThatâs right! What if itâs a trap?â
âI have a way,â Cameron, who had remained quiet, said, âI can arrange for a stakeout operation. If anyone shows up, weâll just make an arrest. That way, we can also find out whatâs going on.â
âWell, who knows, we might get lucky and achieve a breakthrough?â
Alexander nodded, thinking the plan was viable.
