‘I’m sure they’ll be fine. Alex is very attentive to children. Galen had a small patch of eczema when he was a baby. I didn’t even notice it myself, but Alex did. He even quickly found a way to treat it.

‘Although he looks like someone who only cares about business, he’s observant of many small things and does them better than me. Sometimes, he would cook for us when the servants were on leave.

‘I’m so lucky to have married someone like him.’ Lily could not help but smile when she thought about her husband and children.

Suddenly, Lily realized she thought about her past because she was nearing the end of her life. Lily shook her head vigorously and thought, ‘No, no, no! Snap out of it, Lily!’

People were often not brought down by their enemies but by their own beliefs. Once a person’s beliefs crumbled, they would despair easily.

As Lily was lost in thought, Fred entered with two guards. He smirked, “Lily, you know what time it is, right?”

“Is it time to kick your ass?” Lily said bluntly without looking at Fred.

“You fucking—” Upset, Fred caught himself and smiled again. “I’ll let that pass. Say whatever you want while you still can. Take her away!”

He waved, gesturing for the guards to go forward. Since Lily had subdued him before, he dared not approach her himself.

When the guards walked up to Lily, she bolted to her feet. “Don’t touch me!”

The guards were probably stunned by her abruptness and commanding presence, so they did as she said.

“I’ll go by myself,” Lily spoke dismissively.

The guards looked at Fred, who gestured for them to oblige her.

When Lily passed by Fred, he instinctively stepped backward. Lily chuckled when she noticed he was scared.

“What are you laughing at?” Fred snarled with a frown. To him, Lily’s laughter always carried a hint of unsettling mockery.

After laughing, she asked, “Do you know that everyone has a weakness?”

Puzzled, Fred narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean?”

“I just wanted you to know you have a weakness, too.” Lily looked at him and spoke meaningfully, “If others find out about it…”

She let out an indifferent chuckle at the end.

Fred felt a chill run down his spine and exclaimed, “I have no weakness! Stop playing mind games with me, got it? You’re going to fucking die soon! You’ve tricked me once. I won’t fall for it the second time!”

Lily dug her ear, looking calm. “Okay, okay. Why do you have to shout? Are you telling me that, or you’re trying to warn yourself?”

She walked off.

Fred was livid.
