Lily’s words had struck a chord with her, but Rhea couldn’t show it. The latter remembered how her parents had neglected her during her childhood.

Rhea was stumped.

“Fine, I won’t waste my time arguing with you. Unlike you, I still have many important experiments and wonderful things to create. Too bad you’ll no longer have the chance to see them,” Rhea said, envisioning her bright future.

Lily shook her head. “How do you know I no longer have the chance while you do?”

“Stop speaking in riddles!” Rhea narrowed her eyes. “Do you even realize what’ll happen to you?”

“Save your concern for yourself, okay?” Lily shook her head, having nothing more to say to Rhea. As she turned away, she thought about something and looked over her shoulder at Rhea. “So you willingly walked into the trap?”

Rhea nodded, then caught herself and quickly shook her head. “What are you talking about? I wanted to rejoin the organization, okay?”

“I honestly don’t get it. Why would anyone want to become someone else’s lapdog?” Lily said casually with a raised brow.

“You—” Upset, Rhea stopped herself and took a deep breath. “Being the lapdog of someone with power is better than being a nobody. Do you think you’re better than me? No matter how influential your husband is, he still couldn’t save you, could he?”

Rhea tilted her head and sized up the room. “Why don’t you beg me to fulfill your last wishes? Perhaps I might help you when I feel like it?”

However, Lily had closed her eyes to rest and ignored her.

With no one to quarrel with, Rhea soon felt bored. She was also curious why they had brought her here.

After looking around, she found nothing unusual and guessed there were surveillance or listening devices. However, she couldn’t figure out why Fred wanted her there.
