Chapter 2316
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
âIt sure looks like it.â Ross nodded in agreement. âMy men in the embassy told me things have been unusual over the past two days. However, thatâs all they could tell me.â
He spread his arms, indicating that even he knew little about what was happening at the embassy.
Alexander and Cameron were quiet. They exchanged a look without voicing their opinions.
âSecretary Rollins, whatâs your take?â Mike asked.
After all, Cameron was there to solve the problem together with them.
âIâd like to hear your thoughts first, Alex,â Cameron said blandly.
Alexander cleared his throat and said to Mike, âItâs evident theyâre doing something significant tomorrow. The embassy has been postponing meetings, and Rhea has insisted that you only go there at night.
âThat shows sheâll be busy with something during the day,â After a pause, Alexander continued, âBesides, why did she only call you now? What was she doing during the day? Why didnât she call you earlier?â
Mike frowned. âI wondered about that, too. She mightâve had no time to answer my call or just didnât want to. Maybe she couldnât answer at all, either.â
Ross sighed and looked toward Cameron. The former said, âIâm curious about what theyâre doing and where theyâre doing it because not even the ordinary staff know about it.
âSecretary Rollins, I must emphasize that the Yudonian government has nothing to do with Fredâs actions.â Ross did not want the incident to turn into a dispute between the two countries.
Cameron shook his head, saying, âI know youâre in a pinch, but Fred is a Yudonian duke who has been using his status as the ambassador to commit crimes in Hyderland. Weâve refrained from arresting him partly for the ties between our two countries.
âSo you canât say your government isnât responsible for this, Your Highness.â
Ross shook his head. âIâm not. Iâm just saying that whatever happens, it shouldnât affect our ties.â
âYour Highness, you should know it depends on your and your governmentâs stance. The ball is in your court now,â Cameron said courteously and firmly.
After all, Hyderland had tried to put up with what Fred did. If people discovered Fredâs evil deeds, Yudonia would face worldwide condemnation.
Ross dropped his smile and cleared his throat. He then nodded and said solemnly, âI understand, and Iâm grateful for what youâve done. However, what matters most now is to stop Fred and rescue my mom.â
Alexander told Mike, âGo to the embassy tomorrow during the day. Weâll find a way to get inside.â âBut she asked me to go at nightââ
âJust find an excuse,â Alexander said, âIâve made arrangements on my end. If they donât let us in, weâll just force our way in.â
They had tried to solve the problem legally through official channels, but they had no other choice.
