Chapter 2357
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
âBut you canât escape that terrible feeling, right?â Alexander knew how Mike felt.
If someone had told him his children were dead, he wouldnât be able to take it either. He couldnât even describe how anxious he was while awaiting the twinâs return.
âDonât worry, Iâm just feeling a bit upset.â Mike looked up. âBut Iâll never give up on finding Nicky, whether heâs alive or not.â
âYou shouldnât.â Alexander said, âShe was probably just trying to provoke you.
Theyâve had Nick for quite some time. Why would she suddenly tell you that?
Why would they kill him now?â
Alexander didnât think it made sense.
âThe fact that Nick has been held captive in the Royal Palace of Yudonia shows that theyâre only using him to control Mike. Why would Rhea suddenly tell him that the boy is dead? Even if they were to kill Nick, there must be a reason.
âNot to mention they wanted Mike to give them the invisibility potion formula.
Theyâd be foolish to kill Nick now.â Mike nodded. He knew he couldnât trust Rhea entirely, and she was unable to show him his sonâs body. Yet, what she said had a strong emotional impact on him.
âYeah, man. Rheaâs full of lies, and sheâs unusually cunning.â Austin agreed with Alexander.
After some thought, he asked Mike, âWhy would she suddenly bring that up?â
âI asked her to rescue my son, and she told me to drop it because Nicky is alreadyâ¦â
âThen she mustâve said it as an excuse not to help you,â Austin said, âShe was just trying to make you give up, okay? You mustnât believe her. Even if she wasnât trying to lie to you, it might not be the truth unless you see the. you know.â
He couldnât bear to mention the word âbody.â
âI shouldnât have let her get to me. Anyway, Nicky is still waiting for me to rescue him. Iâm not going to just give up because of what that woman said.â
After consoling Mike, Alexander thought of a more critical question. âDid you notice anything unusual when you were in there?â
âNo,â Mike recalled carefully and shook his head. âEverything seemed normal in the office area, and there was nothing unusual about Rhea. If I have to point out something strange.â
âYeah?â
âI think people there were different from the ones we saw last time,â he said after a momentâs hesitation, uncertain.
Alexander was puzzled. âWhat do you mean?â
âIâm talking about those working in the embassy. Most of them werenât the ones we saw last time.â
Austin said, âThatâs normal, right? Since so many people work there, I doubt youâd remember all of them. Maybe the ones working the other day changed shifts and werenât working today. Or perhaps you just arenât good with Yudonian faces.â
âI thought so, too,â Mike said, âBut Iâm pretty sure they werenât the same ones.â
He had dealt with many Yudonians after living abroad for many years, and he was good with faces.
âThen they mustâve changed shifts or something,â Austin said.
